Barnes and Noble has the first one (eBook) for $4.78 so I put it on my Nook wish list. Someone in my book group liked it and someone else didn't but for that price I put it down.

I forgot DR George, until I just did a search, that Scott was the controversial author some of your co-workers protested against. I think I'll take the book off of my wish list. I can watch the movie when it comes out.

In the NYT's review of "The Cradle Will Rock," a great review for Josh Clayton's work:

"... the production mostly treats Blitzstein’s work honorably, both dramatically and musically, with Chris Fenwick attentively conducting a 13-piece orchestra in artfully jazzy orchestrations by Josh Clayton."

Jane, don't let that stop you from reading the book. Like the article says, the work can be better than the person. When he spoke at our All Staff Training Day, there were a lot of people who wanted to hear him speak because they enjoyed his work...although, what he spoke about was completely lame and totally unrelated to his writings and even had nothing to do with his controversial views. I actually am interested in seeing the movie, but I never read the book because, at the time, it just wasn't something I was interested in. But if you are, please do.

It's not too bad. What's most jarring is that they're using New York accents...but not consistently. And both Warbucks and Grace have what I'll call "modified British" accents. As for the singing, it's all very good.

Well, I must be off now. Today is my sister's boyfriend's birthday and I never know what to get him. I finally thought about getting him a gift certificate to a local restaurant that he likes, Apollo's, but then my sister suggested Darby's. He likes that a lot more. I called and they do sell gift certificates. Since they close at 9:00 pm, I gotta go!
