BK, have posted a few things on Facebook.  If I get unfriended, that's fine.

I appreciated your comments on the Zimmerman case last night, DR cillaliz. Whether he was acquitted or found guilty, I had no expectations, but I do believe that if he had followed the orders he was given and not have followed Martin, nothing would have happened.

Larry I respect your opinion. I was going to reply, but thought better of it.  Although it was an objective response, this probably isn't the place to have the discussion.

Well, you know me. I never keep my mouth shut! Your comments last night gave me a new perspective on the case, and I appreciated it.

Now, on another outraged tangent, I gather Liz Callaway, or someone on her behalf, has purchased her recordings from the jerks at the Label that shall not be named and they are now available for download. She and Alex are certainly getting pattedon their backs for their great work on them, but I'm very riled that neither BK nor I haven't been mentioned for whatever we brought to the table.

Thanks. I try to be objective and explain as a lawyer, but I don't want to start a big to do here like I see going on over at FB.  I guess what I will say is that Zimmerman probably shouldn't have followed him, but that isn't relevant to the self defense claim.  What is relevant is whether George was reasonably in fear of serious bodily damage or death at the time he shot.  So even if it wouldn't have happened if Zimmerman had stayed in his truck, that isn't the question. The eye witness saw Trevon on top of George and George yelling for help shortly before the shot.  That's the relevant time frame.   That may not seen fair, but it's what matters for criminal court.

Thank you for the explanation- Cilla,   at least the verdict  makes some kind of sense to me now that you explained the limited scope that the jurors  had to use to make the decision ,

I still feel that  Zimmerman initiated the confrontation by following the teen, and Tryvon was defending himself from the stalker and in fact he was using the  "stand your  ground"  rule  but that's neither here nor there

My confusion with this ruling is that I feel it sets a precedent  so that  if I am being mugged and I fight back against my attacker and I am "winning" the fight , the mugger is then justified in killing me in self defense --- or am I completely misreading the situation?

And  this was never about race to me - this was about  having my kid  or any kid being able to safely walk the streets without  being attackhed by a vigilante

I wish that Mr. Champion (or  Mr. Kimmel) had been available to direct the production of A FLEA IN HER EAR I saw a couple of years ago.  It was indeed one of the longest three hours I have spent in a long time.  But in this case, I don't think it was the direction as much as the cast.  This was I believe the closing weekend, and by that time certain actors had started to think that they were the reason for the shows success.  Unfortunately, they were wrong.

A lot of great video clips posted yesterday.

It's entirely too easy to get "lost" in YouTube. One thing leads to another, leads to another...

I agree.  You Tube is more addicting than heroin (or heroine).  Last night I was following George and Mike's posts to You Tube, and next think I knew, my laptop battery was almost dead.  But so much fun!

After the heat of my home in London it's good to be in an air-conditioned Hilton hotel room. Free unlimited wi fi as well.

Good morning, all! I have been having a difficult time getting onto HHW after reading this morning's notes, but here I am.

DR JohnG, belated 80th birthday greetings to your ma. I wish that my family had thrown a big bash for my dad when he turned 80; we only had five more years with him after that.

I wish my sister and I had not been so self-absorbed, and had give our mother a big 75th Birthday party.  She would have claimed it was embarrassing and too much trouble, but it would have been a wonderful day for her and a beautiful memory for us.

I see that it was Cheyenne Jackson Birthday last Friday.

This is for people who are interested in Cheyenne more than his Birthday.

Why Mike, what do you mean?

Next month is my dad's 75th birthday.  He's very muchly looking forward to it.  We have to do something for him...and gladly. :D

Apropos of the today's notes, yesterday at the film shoot, my friend Larry - with whom I appeared in THE CRUCIBLE at DePauw last fall - told me that he has talked to the current Director of Theatre about directing a production of NOISES OFF in the fall of 2014, and has offered me the part of Selsdon if said production is approved.

Jrand, congrats on the offer and good luck on the approval!

I made it to Louisville for Mom and Dad's 58th anniversary earlier this year. We celebrated both of their birthdays while I was there.

I am watching an old noir with one of Mikey's favorites in it: Richard Conte. It's a gangster flick of sorts called "The Brothers Rico." Really good. And, yes, Mr. Conte has a scene without a shirt in which he flexes his muscles.

It is too hot to do anything, so I'm cooking a dish for a dinner tonight. Stupid me. It's only added heat to the place. But it smells great. Eggplant stuffed with pork, mushrooms, pine nuts sauteed with the eggplant, onion and garlic.

I've always felt that "oot and aboot" is more Scottish and "oat and a boat" is more Canadian. :)

Well, we're about (or aboot or aboat) to have four straight days of over-90 degree heat -- five, if you believe the latest forecast on weather.com which I think is erroneous since it just now changed to that -- but hey, who's counting?  So fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a hot, humid ride.

I guess it's nearly that today, but I haven't even gone out yet.  I'll find out when I go to the store in a bit.

Of course, DRs Laura, Kerry, and John G. are laughing at this silly post right about now.....    :)

Sunday evening greetings!  We had a smooth trip to Lima and back, my last until August 11.  Richard will be there next week on his way to Wisconsin, but I will probably go to church with Rob and Mary Linda instead.  Had a nap as soon as we got home and have spent the last couple of hours weighing 2 3 different apartment options for our November stay in NYC.
