Did I mention that I got carpet tiles and installed them on my basement hallway last night?

Not that I saw.

It was a nice event.  I wasn't feeling too well and didn't stay for the whole thing (when we were done we packed up so a choir could sing from where we were later in the dedication)

I also built one of those 9 cubby hole shelves and put it in room with the sliding glass door to cover up a place I had to cut the dry wall off when I had water down there a couple years ago.   Looks much better

You have been busy.

I also ran a cable line into that room so I could listen for the verdict last night. It was really enjoyable.

I would not know how to do that.

I didn't think I did.  It's commercial indoor outdoor type carpet, but it looks a ton better than what I had before and was pretty easy to install.  It only took me a couple hours to do it

You get a splitter and hook a cable into it that stretches as far as you want it to

OMG is it hot and humid here today!

Although i'm sure it's nothing compared to what DR Laura feels in the summer.

Dry heat is different that humid heat.

My oven has dry heat, but I wouldn't want to live in it  ;)

I have a friend who lives in Tucson, 90 miles from Phoenix. He's always saying how much cooler it is in Tucson than Phoenix but when it's 110 in Tucson, I don't give a fig. An oven is an oven.

This cartoon ran in the New Yorker recently. I think of my friend when he says "it's a dry heat"

The kind suitable for a basement.  Will there be a photo?

This morning there were no copies of The Cuckoo's Calling on the ABE.  Now there are several of the US version (not the true first - the UK is) that are $100, even though you can probably still get a first new from amazon at regular price) and there is one copy of the UK first now at $2,500!!!  Sickening these dealers.  It will blow over very quickly, I think.  This morning on eBay there was one copy of the UK with a bid of forty-three bucks - that has now shot up to five hundred with two days left in the bidding.

Yes, perfect for a basement hallway - it's also treated so it won't mold or mildew.  Very good for basement.   I'll take a photo later, but it's pretty basic.  You can see the seams even when you put them right next to each other, but it doesn't look too bad

One hot humid, typical Michigan summer we went to Arizona.  Maybe the Grand Canyon & Monument Valley are cooler than Phoenix or Tuscan.  All I know is that was when I began talking about retiring in Arizona.  Michigan summers were nothing compared to Pennsylvania & New Jersey.

When I placed my reservation at the library this morning, I was 34th. When I checked later today, another 45 reservations had been placed. And I think at this point, there were only 4 copies in the system. I think that will change quickly.

Yes, a book people wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole or a five foot Czech despite rave reviews is suddenly going to end up a number one bestseller - it is to laugh.

I'll jog around six-thirty, I think.  I did go to Mystery and Imagination Books, saw a couple of people I knew, paid my respects to George Clayton Johnson and high-tailed it to Jerry's Deli for chicken tenders.

I could have used this method of shampooing my hair when I was in the hospital.  What they had was horrible.

I just watched this half hour advertisement called; THE LONE RANGER - UNMASKED.  no wonder the film was so expensive.  They built a six mile railroad in the middle of the desert and brought in two complete trains.  How crazy is that?

My eBook library doesn't have this.  My regular library has 39 holds for one copy.  I never thought to check the numbers this morning.

It's crazy when the money should have been spent on - you know - a good story and script.

Happy (belated) birthday to John's mom!!!!

My mom was 85 a few weeks ago.

How did she ever survive with you as her son??  She probably turned gray the day you were born!   ;)

I wonder what Depp was paid.

And here he is with the bird on his head next to the expensive train track.

I went away for what I thought was a little while, and so much good conversation to read.

Took a while to catch up.
