I was surprised to see that the temperature was still in the 80's this afternoon.  It felt like it was much hotter to me when I was out.  I couldn't wait to get back to my a/c.

I ate two hamberger patties.  I think I may explode.

Is he related to peppermint Patty from Peanuts?

I met my friend/former co-worker Dan for lunch at The Olive Garden.  Afterwards he showed me (from the outside) the 1st floor condominium he just bought.

While there, i found this SUGAR SUGAR YouTube.  Does the lead guy look a lot like BK in his TV days?

Apparently Hotel Paradiso is only on DVD as part of some humungous United Artists box set - cheapest copy of that is $350.  I think not.  Not on You Tube either.  How annoying.  It is on TCM on August 3, so perhaps I'll tape that.

Sorry, DR John G. - missed your earlier post about J.K. Rowling. Didn't mean to post duplicate news!

We watched Double Indemnity tonight. Neither of us had ever seen it!

This morning there were no copies of The Cuckoo's Calling on the ABE.  Now there are several of the US version (not the true first - the UK is) that are $100, even though you can probably still get a first new from amazon at regular price) and there is one copy of the UK first now at $2,500!!!  Sickening these dealers.  It will blow over very quickly, I think.  This morning on eBay there was one copy of the UK with a bid of forty-three bucks - that has now shot up to five hundred with two days left in the bidding.

I can pick one up at our local Barnes and Nobel for 19.00.  I think I may read it on nook for 11.00 and some change

DR Chas, I believe we have two Canadians here, although one (DR Mike) is transplanted. DR Jennifer is the other. Whether either says "oot and aboot" (or some variation thereof) I cannot say. Mike and Jennifer, you are both Quebecois, non?

I don't say oot and aboot or the one DR George said. I say out and about the regular way :)

Starting to watch an opera of Joan of Arc staged and filmed by Werner Herzog. I've seen the size of the diva playing Joan. I believe she could lead army's into battle. No question.

Maybe what people need to understand is that a criminal trial is not a search for the truth. Not even close.  It is not about the victim, even though victims have rights.  It is to decide if the state or federal government can take a person's liberty or money, in terms of a fine.  To do that they have to prove beyond a reasonable a criminal offense as defined by statute was committed and that the person accused didn't have a legal justification for committing the offense.  That's it. It's not a way to exact moral justice or social justice.

Thanks Cilla

Back from a stroll around our house.  I think you burned off more calories than I did.

Ok, time to go get some chicken and cole slaw.   Tomorrow I start back on my diet.

Tomorrow I must start mine.

You must be kidding!  From your avatar I would guess your weight at about 35 lbs

then I sorted donations  for our homeless wash up kits

It looks like we are going to be able to make up 200 -

I am getting quite excited about this project

Our youth director  offered to donate 200 bottles of water to hand out with the kits
