I'm off to one of three more performances of Into the Woods in the woods

The first Into the Woods I ever saw was in the woods.  (At the same outdoor venue I just played the R&H show in.)

Re: the JK Rowling leak:
The BBC's article today said that Gossage, the law partner, told his wife, who then blabbed to her friend, and the blabee then tweeted. I can understand the partner telling his wife, but she must have understood that this is privileged information, as must the blabee. I'm not usually a litigious person, but I really would like to see a lawsuit here. Ms Rowling can give any proceeds to charity. I've known too many people who delight in disclosing private information, in a "I knew this before you did" kind of way. The information would have come out eventually, but I still feel it is an outrage.

Me too, actually, but a different outdoor theatre, I'm sure.  This was in the Oakland hills in 1994.

DR Chas I'm not sure how you were able to watch/listen to her all the way through.  With her accent I'm guessing she never heard of our Magic Pan.  It wasn't the only crepe restaurant in the world ;)

Yes, but I don't know how the woman who tweeted can be legally liable for this and, IMHO, she is the one who should pay for this.

Back from picking up one package that arrived right after I left before.  So, now tonight I can watch the new Brian de Palma film Passion, unreleased in the US and already on Blu and Ray overseas - does not bode well, but we shall see.

Brian de Palma made a movie of the musical??  Cool!

Of course Kritzerland released Cry for Us All.  It had almost sold out when we were contacted by a lawyer representing someone involved in the original production - they thought THEY owned the rights to the score.  Our lawyer patiently explained that while they may own the rights to the show and score for copyright and performance purposes, they most assuredly did not own the rights to the album masters.  Their lawyer was such a jerk and just kept on keeping on trying to get money out of us, that I finally told my lawyer, "Look, we've sold almost the entire run - I'm just removing it completely from the site and tell them to go take a flying leap."  He did, and that was the end of that.

so we have "rare copies". Maybe we can sell them for $1,000.00.

It's supposed to be in theaters on August 30th. FYI it's a remake of 2010 film Love Crime with Kristen Scott Thomas

No, but she was in the U.S., too, and it was a major chain that, for one brief shining moment, was all the rage.  If she'd called her restaurant anything but that, we wouldn't even know about it.  I guess what my question really should be is:  how many creperies in the world have used "Magic Pan" in their name?  Has that been a common thing, either before or after "ours"?  I realize it's hardly worth thinking about.

I suppose I stopped listening before she mentioned the US.  It is an unusual name for a creperies.  I would have expected a French name from her beginning comments.

Yikes.  Was one of them Lee Farm Corporate Park?  That's where I worked from 1989 till 2002.

Yes, indeed! With that overpriced cafe in the basement! But I think I was there a few years after you.

It was in different hands by then.  The woman who ran it for several years either sold it, or leased it out to the gal who had worked for her when I was there, and I understand they kept trying to upscale it.  But it always seemed overpriced, regardless of the ownership and the selection of food.

Oh, but the link worked, so I saw it!   :)

And that one just closed, after twenty years!  But it doesn't look like it was a crepe restaurant.

I haven't had a crepe in years and now I'm in the mood for one.  I used to make artichoke hear crepes.

Those, in fact, were the very years I was introduced to artichokes, and boy do I love them.

Which is exceedingly difficult, because artichokes don't have ears.       ;)

I have been glued to the computer waiting for news that a friend's daughter came through surgery ok.  She did and now I need to stretch.  I think I shall go outside and see if I can spot Little Harold our young hare that lives under a big bush along the side of the house.

Here's a bit of the background behind the J.K. Rowling leak (and it wasn't Rowling):
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/18/jk-rowling-leak_n_3617724.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000009

I feel bad for the lawyer.  I expect the lawyer & his wife are no longer friends with the tweeter.

I'm sort of confused why she is so mad. She had a book that sold nothing. And now it is going through the roof in sales. I know she is mega-rich and doesn't care about the money. But as an author wouldn't she want people to actually read it? I would think she would be happy now that everyone knows (and she didn't have the pressures while writing it).

I think that she didn't want people to know that "J.K. Rowling" wrote another book.  She probably wanted it to stand on its own merits and not have readers/reviewers have a certain expectation about how well it was going to be.  I'm sure that a lot of people will love it only because she wrote it and she wrote the Harry Potter books, so it has to be good, regardless of how they would actually feel about it if they just read some unknown author's first book.  I don't think that it really has anything to do with how many people read or will read the book, but how much they liked it.
