In that video, she said "artichops," and I can't even spell how she pronounced "shrimp."

And I put the baby on top of three others that were sleeping in the nest.  It has got to be crowded in there with 4 babies.

I'm very relieved, a bird friend in PA just told me I did the right thing. This is the friend who had the huge bird cage we raised the baby Robbins in.

I am home from a round of southern discomfort gothic Galveston TX family, UNBROKEN CIRCLE, which deals with the day of, and morning after, the funeral of a man who can only be called a creep, wife abuser and child molester. Given the fact that so many awful family sins and insults to humanity are dredged up, the play is outrageously funny. I had a great time, and it was great to hang out with DJ before the performance.

I am enjoying the new tv series DEVIOUS MAIDS, particularly for the fact that former MELROSE PLACE star Grant Show is one of the featured players. Man, has he aged well!!!






And Richard Burgi, formerly of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES was in Sunday night's episode. I love that man and plan to marry him someday he is such a good actor.

My fashion sense has changed little in 65 years.

Hee, hee! That truly is how you were dressed when I first met you in NYC, when I got off of the bus. Of course you were holding that big sign that said "go back home."

I never did figure that one out.

One food cooking method I wish would come back is french fries deep-fried in actual beef tallow, the way so many of them - including those at McDonald's - used to be routinely cooked.  I realize that isn't everyone's idea of a healthful food, and of course it doesn't work for vegetarians.  But they were more delicious than just about any you can find nowadays, and probably contributed to the decades-long popularity of McDonald's fries as much as anything did. 

(Speaking of healthful, one article in The New Yorker some years back suggested that these would actually be more healthy for you than some of those cooked in whatever they use now.)

Oh--and in that vein, the style of burgers and fries at the extinct Dolores Restaurant -- especially at the original drive-in, though for the first few years following its demise you could still enjoy the food at the Dolores West.  These items were unique and exceptional in goodness...and almost impossible to describe to anyone who never had the pleasure.  On the subject of french fries, their Suzy-Q fries were, again, better than anything.  They were the first "curly" fry I knew, and not like anything you get now with curly fries.  No silly spices (which seems to be synonymous with curly fries nowadays).  Just the best, most luscious chains of deep-fried goodness you ever tasted.  There's nothing I can say here that would do them justice.

My hubby still speaks longingly of "chips made in beef drippings"
