The guy who had partially fixed the place the raccoon got in came back and finished the job.  He can't fix the faucet on the house without ripping out the entire finished ceiling.  So, he's going to put in a new one on the front of the house. More $$

And my washing machine is in the process of dying.  It was the cheapest model and I got it 12 years ago, so it may be time to get a new one. It won't go into the cycle where it drains the tub without me playing with the dial for about 10 minutes.  I can finally get it to work, so I don't think it's the drain, or anything like that.  I think it's just time to get a new one

I did get all my laundry except the sheets and towels washed and dried. I have more sheets and towels, so that's not a problem.   I'll go shopping tomorrow and see if I can find something on sale...or I'll get another basic top loader.  They do everything I need to do and are a lot cheaper than the fancy ones

All day it looked like it was going to rain, but it never did.  We really need rain

We now have beautiful and colorful flowers everywhere in the front yard.  The big question is will the sprinklers come on as scheduled Monday morning.  I have my doubts.  No one but the handy man seems to be able to program the thing so that it actually works.

Luckily I got all my outside work done, except trimming the bushes in the front yard.  I can do that some other day

It's amazing how flowers brighten up everything.

Went to a four-hour dinner tonight with Stephan Pyles cooking Italian food using local ingredients and Paula Lambert of the Dallas Mozzarella Company providing some sparkling commentary and a host of incredible cheeses. Too many wines (and they weren't reacting well to the yerba mate, so they went to waste) and way too much food for one sitting. But the conversation was great and the evening flowed by.

I am exhausted.  But, I got so many chores done.   Tomorrow all I need to do is pick up a little and vacuum.

More than 15 or so years ago, a friend of mine asked if I wanted a small (probably 8x10x12 inch) box of Playbills that he got from someone that he knew.  I still have those.  I don't remember what all is in there, but it's filled with Playbills from the 60s and the 70s.  Some even had the ticket stub stapled to them...sadly, even by the time I got them, a lot of the staples were rusting.  I haven't looked at them in many years.  I don't know if I even went through the whole box to see what was there.  Someday (maybe as I bring things to my newly rented storage unit), I will. :D

A friend of a friend was a Tony voter so he got to see everything, and he gave me his Playbill collection, which I still have in crates in the garage. Some wonderful stuff in there, including "The Red Shoes" and who knows what all else.

I have a few things I should do, but other than shopping for a washer and dryer, there's nothing I have to get done.

Thanks, George. I hope we get rain.

I know that feeling all too well. Hope the clouds open up and the headache goes away.

I was looking for one Playbill and had to buy a lot of 64 to get it.  I still have them. I haven't looked at them in ages so don't really know what's there.  I also save Playbills from everything I see and try to get the programs too.

The first show I actually saw on Broadway was THE WIZ in 1977

The Cuckoo's Calling madness continues unabated.  Signed copies, of which there aren't many, continue to go for no less that $2500 and the unsigned true firsts have now creeped up to no less than 1500 bucks, so I'm guessing those who didn't buy the two copies that were Buy It Now on eBay for a grand are now kicking themselves.

One of only seven copies of Schinder's List is on sale on E-Bay with a starting bid of $3,000,000.00!  Wow.

Not the book of Schindler's - the actual LIST.  It won't sell for that price, but it's amazingly rare.  The book Schindler's List's true first edition doesn't have that title - the original first edition was called Schindler's Ark.

But I'll write the notes in about thirty minutes, post them right at midnight and get as much sleep as I can.  If I'm up by seven-thirty I'll jog at eight.  If not, I'll forego the jog, which will be my first missed day in about six weeks so that's pretty good.

It is starting to rain.

ETA: It is raining nicely now.

ETA: It is pouring.

Great news, Laura.  Hopefully the rain will help your headache, also.
