I'm up, and I could be out the door to jog by eight, but I just can't - too close to last night's jog and I'm just too tired and must just awaken myself slowly but surely, not pound myself this early.

I forgot to mention that I've been told that the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, once home to the Oscars, theater in the round and concerts, but more recently home to nothing but an occasional book fair, is going to be demolished.

Now, Brent and Jason - there is a perfect example of "prying eyes."  I have been trying to do Sugar for years - I've suggested and lobbied for it with Reprise (out of business now because of their inept artistic decisions), Musical Theatre Guild, Cabrillo, Musical Theater West, and anyone else who would listen - and my casting for it has always been the same: Brent and Jason.  So, it's amusing that the director who's doing the show, who is known for replicating other people's work, uses that casting and gets that show done at a theater where he can make the show choices.  And that's why I've stopped throwing my ideas around although one must if one wants to try and convince people to do things.

They are perfect for those roles. Too bad it sounds as if they won't be getting the directorial support they deserve.

Been reading "Before the Parade Passes By," a bio of Gower Champion and have just finished the "Hello, Dolly!" chapter.

BlueGobo.com has posted a visually faded but fascinating hour-long TV special of Mary Martin in Japan with a tour of "Dolly" that includes several scenes of the show on stage.

They don't need directorial support - they'll be great.  I'm glad someone thought that casting was worthwhile.  But he didn't think of it himself. :)

DR CHASSMITH

Did you ever go to the Royal Poinciana Playhouse in Palm Beach? It closed now but they are trying to save it from being demolished. Went there once to see  Lettuce & Lovage with Julie Harris

The Mary Martin DOLLY thing is great.  Of course one wants more of the actual show, but even the other bits are a wonderful look back at one heckuva time.

the Vixter had to work  so we brought the reception to her

I wondered where it was.  That was sweet so she didn't miss out on it.

Are they going to put up a parking lot?

Happy Sunday, all!

BK, loved your description of the recording session yesterday. I love studio work. And though I've sung with 26 pieces behind me in performance at the Victory Awards years back (and many large orchestras in shows, when they were affordable to producers), but I've never been in a studio with that many pieces. Must have been gorgeous to hear.

I also loved your Kritzer Time song.

I did not love Shrek, the Musical last night, which came as no surprise to me. Apologies to those who do love it. Lots of great work was onstage, but like a cheap hot dog, it was mostly filler. 'Nuff said.

Hello all and Happy Sunday!  I was away on vacation for the past 2 weeks; so, there hasn't been a new Broadway Radio Show until today....and it's a fun one.  I had a lovely phone conversation this morning with Tony nominated writer Bill Russell to discuss the release of the cast recording of The Last Smoker In America as well as the latest news on the Side Show revival.  Check it out!
