Just back from the most lovely dog walk. It is SO much less hot and humid than it has been here for the past week.

I also love that magical time, on a summer evening, when the light is golden - after the sun has sunk below the horizon, but while it is still light out. And the fireflies!     :)

We don't get many fireflies here in Texas. But today we got a late-afternoon shower and the faintest glimmer of rainbow. Just beautiful.

Today, I've finally finished making the list of everything that's on my upstairs DVD burner so I'll know what to put on each DVD when I start burning them since my burner is COMPLETELY filled up.  I'll look through my list and make some notes on what I want to put together...an opera disc, a musical theater disc, etc.  Most of the clips are from the Classic Arts Showcase channel (I think the oldest film clip that I recorded was from 1903!).  I like to put together things that are linked in some way.  For instance, I have a ballet version and the opera version of the balcony scene from "Romeo and Juliet."  I'll put those together.  I have several performances of songs from "Candide" (from the Bernstein recording to live performances by other opera singers) that will go together.  I wonder if Larry knows about this, but I even have Kiri Te Kanawa singing "Art is Calling For Me" from "The Enchantress" by Victor Herbert.  Once I decide what all will go together, I can put up to eight hours on each disc, but with things like this, I usually keep them to under three hours.  More time on the disc means less quality overall.  I have to burn them in real time, so that will time a lot of overnight recording, but that's fine.  The DVD burner is very quiet.

Now, I need to take a shower and get dressed and get out of my house for a while.

Be back later!

Vixmom, is that Vixdad on the right in the bright shirt? We don't see many pics of Vixdad.

that is indeed the elusive Vixdad

I love his smile.

Oh my gosh, DR Vixmom - how awful!!  Glad that Vixdad was not hurt. AND I hope that the other driver was insured!  How vexing.  All of the paperwork and inconvenience that will now follow.   :P

It was too faint to register on the camera. I did try.

Watching "The Guilt Trip" and have gotten to the scene at the Big Texan where Barbra eats the 4-pound steak dinner. I went there once, and, thankfully, my friend Hillary would not let me try.

If you hold a small flashlight in your hand and "answer" a firefly's call by blinking the same, the firefly will come and land on your hand....

We do dog walks in the mornings, since I am gone most evenings....perhaps in the fall after theatre season, an evening walk will be in order.

I did not know this and will have to try it! I hope I don't inadvertently blink out an obscene message!

Love fireflies.  Growing up in Ohio, we had them every year and took them for granted.  Don't remember whether we saw them in Florida.  Then I didn't see them for many years, in California and even here.  But oddly, I've been once again seeing them like crazy this summer.  I have no idea why I wasn't noticing them all the previous years right here.

Or that everyone agreed right then and there what happened.

A friend of mine had some kid back into her car from a full stop.  I forget the details.  But she called the police to get an accident report filed right there at the scene, and fortunately the idiot kid didn't deny what he'd done, so there was no problem determining who was picking up the tab.
