That was so weird to us kids...that it was free to pee but you had to pay to poop. ::)

It's exactly who you think it might be....

You're lovely, absolutely lovely, who'd believe the loveliness of you?

I have always loved to ride the Merry-Go-Round and wish I had my own antique carousel horse.

In 1943, replacing the original from 1916, & restored in 1981(?-I wish I had kept my t-shirt with the restoration date on it), the Santa Monica Pier Carousel.

This is the beautiful building that houses the ride.

I noticed this photo was taken from when THE STING was filmed there.

TOD:

As you might imagine, the same as DR Kate's: Crystal Beach in Ontario, Canada (just over the bridge from Buffalo)  The roller coaster was called The Comet.  I found a short clip on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVL3Oy1nmsE

After the amusement park closed, the Comet was sold to an amusement park in Lake George , NY, a few hours away.

Congrats to William and Kate.  So there will be 3 Kings in a row (if the monarchy lasts that long)!

Growing up I was lucky there were multiple locations to go on rides.  In the summer's my father would often take me to Kiddyland, or whatever the place on Pico was called, on his half days.  Once Pacific Ocean Park opened it wasn't too long before I didn't need a parent to take me there.  I remembered my mother liked to go & it was she that gently convinced me not to go on the big roller coaster with my older brother & sister.  It is interesting I never even thought about going on it until the day Keith saved me from flying out of it.  My last few times there were with Keith and friends, the last time before it closed with only Keith.

One early memory of Disneyland was a two day trip there with my parents.  My father went for a convention & worked while my mother relaxed around the pool at the hotel.  I'm sure they spent part of one day at Disneyland with us but mostly my brother, sister, sister's best friend, and I had total freedom running around the park on our own.  Sometimes it was great having older siblings though I wonder if today children are permitted to run around the park without adult supervision.

Greetings, all!

TOD:  Growing up in the Philly area, once we moved into the suburbs, I used to frequent a place called Willow Grove Park, a small but wonderful place, about a 20 minute bike ride from my home.

I think Willow Grove is a mall now.

The mall sprang up across from the Park, and for a time, they were right across the road from each other. Now, it's just the mall. I'm not certain when the Park shut down. I've been to the mall a few times on trips home, and I miss seeing the Park there.

They changed the rule so if the baby had been a girl she would have inherited the crown as first born.

Shortly I shall be on my way to do evening one of final vocals.  Hope to wrap by ten at the latest.  I was so tired I was sitting on the couch in the book room, reading about replacement movie scores and just nodded off.

The mall was 20/25 minutes from where we lived and there wasn't an amusement park across the street.  We moved to PA in '82.

I went to the mall website and read the following:

Willow Grove Park is distinguished by its rich history as a development on the site of a famed Victorian-era amusement park, which put the town of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, on international maps. In its heyday, tens of thousands visited the Park daily to behold world-class concerts by such musical greats as John Philip Sousa, captivating colored Electric Fountain shows in the center of the Park’s expansive lake, and novel amusements, including roller coasters, toboggan rides and two magnificent carousels.

In 1982, the site was transformed into a thriving, fashion-forward shopping center, and the magic and excitement surrounding the original Park was reborn.

Funny, while it was very nice I don't recall the mall being magical.

I remember reading several years ago that since Elizabeth has been around for so long and Charles is really getting up there in age, that he should step aside and let Prince William become king when Elizabeth either dies or abdicates because of her age.  I'd also read that he wouldn't do it...but you never know.

Considering how long she has been queen I expect Charles will still have a few good years left in him to "rule".  I also suspect his son may be more suited for the job but then he might not want it too soon and prefer to spend time with his family.

True, but considering how old the Queen Mum was when she died (101, wasn't it?), QE could still be on the throne for another 15+ years!

Watching Live with Kelly and Michael.  It's Broadway week.  Today they featured Pippin. Unfortunately, Kelly is performing along with the Pippin actors.  Oh, well, at least I'm getting an idea of what the show is about.

Crap!  I didn't know about it.  Usually their Broadway week is before the Tony Awards.  I'll have to record the rest starting tomorrow.  Thanks for at least mentioning it. :)

Well, I must be going.  Tonight will be the first rehearsal for the Hollywood murder mystery that I've been cast in!  I don't know exactly what the title is...it's been referred to many different things over the last several weeks.  For all I know, it probably is "The Hollywood Murder Mystery."  Anyway, I'm sure that it'll be great fun!  I know most of the cast and can't wait to get started.

Be back later!
