I love Patti LaBile.  She still has a great voice and always had the best hair...especially in the 1980s!

So, bk, do you make copious notes during each "take" during the final vocal sessions, so that when you go in to comp the vocals, you pretty much have the road map of what you know you want to do? Or is it more free-form?

Good morning, all! I had another night of weird dreams, and the ROBERTA ones have arrived. I only recall bits of the last dream: I was working at Barnes & Noble and there was an engagement (birthday?) party, but at the same time of the party, i was scheduled for a doctor's appointment, and I was wandering around whatever city it was with a lady in a lng Victorian dress attempting to find someone in a room up a long flight of stairs. It's good to be awake.

Have I mentioned how much I detest these faux-enthusiastic commercials for Queen Latifah's talk show in the fall?  I have no idea where that southern accent she's using came from; she's from New Jersey! I'll be passing this program by, but if Time Warner pulls CBS, I won't need to worry about it.

So, today I am spending the afternoon with my musical theatre friend Dominic McHugh and his partner Lawrence before they head off to DC and the Library of Congress.  I will meet them at Toyland around 11:00am.

CD:  Dearest Enemy, Guy Haines, 1994 London cst of OLIVER!

Patti LaBelle and her people were once talking about her doing a revival or tour of "Hello Dolly!"  It would have a most interesting production.

Good morning, all.

Off to a long day at work. We have a 4.5-hour workshop today. Ugh.

Friday morning greetings!  Last night I went to a lovely membership recruitment event for AAUW.  Shortly after I got home I had delightful phone calls from both Richard and Rob.

Well, our team of four was the only team to show up for the training (out of 19 to have signed up). So, it got canceled.

Gee. I can now get some work done.

My reaction to Francis Ford Coppola movies mirrors yours, BK, though I may like aspects of One from the Heart a little more than you. Youth Without Youth was hard to sit through, but it had a couple of good performances in it.

With regard to THE GODFATHER, Part III:

It's certainly not in the same leagues with its two predecessors, but it is also not the total disaster that BK and others claim it to be.

The major problem, as I see it, was the casting of daughter Sofia.  But the story of Michael Corleone needed to be completed and, for the most part, it was told quite well.
