Anyway, she's very nice and she does speak and understand English very well.

Several friends of my parents also came over. Two of them, Margita (who lives in Spokane and one of her sons and grand kids live in Olympia), and Judy (who lives in Tacoma) have known my parents since we all lived in Germany in the same apartment building when my dad (and their former husbands) were in the army in the late 1960s. And Mona (who lives just a few blocks from my parents) and John and Anna (who just live a few miles away) have known my parents since we lived in Colorado, in the early 1970s. They've all gotten to know each other over the years. A very good time was had by all.

I'm now watching "The Doctors Revisited: The Seventh Doctor" and the classic Doctor Who episode, "Remembrance of the Daleks," except that the Comcast description says, "The seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy) faces the Rani, his most scientific foe." There are no Rani in this episode.

And I HATE that during this whole series they've stretched the full-frame picture of the classic episodes to fit the widescreen TV. They don't have the black bars on the side. It's VERY annoying.

Good morning, all! I am going into Toyland today. I'll be there tomorrow and Tuesday, I believe; I've got one number in ROBERTA needing a fix, which means cutting and pasting a section from another part of the orchestra part onto the ending, then photocopying a new orchestra part, taping it together and sending all these new parts to Dublin.

I am also going to work on correcting the orchestra parts for DEAREST ENEMY, so there will be a set of corrected masters to handover to Rodgers & Hammerstein. I currently have a lot of free time to do that.

That's my day and tomorrow and . . .

Last night I tried to watch a movie called Ladies In Lavender, but the damned CD wouldn't play. So, instead I watched the first episode of Season 2 of Larkrise to Candleford, which turned out to be a Christmas ghost story that was both funny, quirky, and really frightening at moments. The carols, played on accordion and banjo, were a lot of fun as well.

Good morning, all.

Had a long, exhausting evening, alternating between enjoyable and boring, and by the time I was back home and winding down and saw that TCB had heroically gotten us to the top of page five, I was so sapped that I could say nothing, just shut the computer down and went to bed.

Only one dream that I can recall. What I can't recall are the specifics which I think would be fairly interesting.

Okay, I think I am finally interested in DRAGON TATTOO.

I've let months (years?) of people's talking about it kind of go by me, but BK's summary of what's good, etc., in today's notes has finally focused my sights on the thing.

Can't say how soon I'll get to it. But it'll happen.

attempted to watch a film called Cabin In The Woods. I was with a group of people. Once person fell asleep within the first ten minutes and the others thought the premise was stupid and we stopped watching after 20 minutes. No great loss

I really liked the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo books. And I did enjoy the Swedish movie. But for me it was way too violent.

I bought my mom a collection of the Candleford novels for her birthday. She's reading them now and enjoying them.

I would love to see the extended Girl movies from Sweden, but the added material is still available only on Blu-Ray and I haven't yet broken down for a Blu-Ray player. I see one in the near future, however. I now own three Blu-Ray discs.
