Having an issue with one of our cast members - she was booked to do a concert at Musical Theatre West - start time on Saturday was eight.  All along she's been told they'll rehearse this week.  Today that all changed.  No rehearsals this week, new start times and not just one but two - at six-fifteen and seven-fifteen and rehearsal before.  They're now putting her in a terrible position and she's asking us if she can run her stuff outside of the run-through - which I have never done and never will do - my stumble-through is the only chance I have to see how the structure and show order work and I occasionally get things wrong and adjust once I've heard and seen the show and I will not be denied that opportunity and I especially will not be denied it be some theater that doesn't give a crap about what position they put a performer in or anything else besides their self-serving promotional concert.

I'm on the cusp of replacing her because I resent this inconvenience so very much.  My co-producer said who are we going to find to learn the three songs so quickly and I reminded her that this cast member doesn't know them yet or certainly didn't yesterday.  We'll see how it plays out but I'm a little nauseated right now.  She's known our schedule for three and a half weeks - if this sickening theater (she just did a show there and obviously wants to keep that door open and that I understand) changes everything at the last minute, that is NOT my problem and I loathe them for just assuming that WE have to work things out.

Replace her immediately tonight. Immediately. You can always rehire her for another show.

No overdue packages.  Very irritating.

Speaking of overdue packages...I had ordered the new Broadway cast recording of Pippin and the new Off Broadway cast recording of Closer Than Ever and I just happened to check the order and it said that it was shipped and delivered and that it was delivered on July 25!  What??  I have all of my Amazon shipments sent to me here at work but I hadn't gotten this.  I did receive Scandalous yesterday, so where was my other package?  I checked the Acquisitions unpacking area and my two CDs were in an opened Amazon box addressed to Timberland.  However, the date received stamp was before it was shipped, so they must've been put in a different box.  These titles are not on order for Timberland.  The real problem is that disc 1 of "C.T.E." is cracked!  The outside packaging was completely complete...not a scratch on it...but the center has a very obvious and non-fixable crack.  And because it's broken, I can get a replacement for free.  I don't have to pay for shipping it back.

But MOST fortunately, it's not cracked so badly that I am actually able to rip the CDs to MP3s before I send it back so I'll be able to listen to it while waiting for said replacement.  I'm getting the exact same item, so there shouldn't be any legal issue. ;)

George, report back on Scandalous, please. And the new Closer Than Ever. Hard to think I'd need a new recording to replace the original.

I've gotten through the first half of the first disc.  I like it because I like the songs (and there are several new songs), but I'm soooo used to the original cast that it'll take time to get used to another recording.

Woops.  It probably looked like I've been here all along, when what I was doing was watching LORD OF THE FLIES.  Been ketchuping on a lot of recent releases which has been very satisfying.  Now, what next?

Performer replaced - stepping in is Chelsea Emma Franko, who we adore and who's stepped in at the last minute one other time and been great, so I have no worries at all - in fact, I was ready to can this other gal yesterday when she didn't know her stuff.  Chelsea will be better anyway.  I used this other gal because Adryan loves her - obviously she won't be asked back and Adryan is kind of soured on her, too.

It's too bad that that has to happen. :-\

Congrats on the quick replacement, though!

Watching Victor/Victoria, the original film. Haven't seen it in a while. One of my favorite later Blake Edwards pictures. Great style.

Well, I'm off.  I need to get something to eat before rehearsal tonight, so I'm leaving.

Be back later!

But now I really am going, because I am very tired......

Good to hear that The Girl Who Couldn't Be There was replaced.

I remember when Eileen Brennan was hit by a car.....crossing the street I think.....and she nearly didn't survive....it was scary for a few weeks....if I remember correctly.....

Puttering around, drinking lime Cokes.  (A few generous slices generously squeezed over a generous amount of ice in a large tumbler, drop the aforementioned generously squeezed slices into the glass, pour Coca-Cola Zero generously over the top.  I am nothing if not generous.  Delicious, and a great warm weather drink.)

Can't decide if I'm really up for watching something else now or should I begin winding down.

Last week TCM aired the 1930s version of VICTOR/VICTORIA starring Jessie Matthews. I watched it over the weekend...well, most of it. I never did finish it. Sure had some great songs in it.

I am pleased to say that I have had good luck this week in getting three wonderful Punjabi film actors to submit to a cross- examinations interviews, which will be published in the very near future.

I know that names won't mean a thing to you all, but here are their glossy head shots for your viewing pleasure!
