DR Jennifer I've run into that horrible small print a few times.  Sometimes I could adjust it other times not.  It is frustrating.

A few pictures of Bucharest:

I don't remember anything this charming except for inside the Marriott Hotel, our refuge from the rain that was flooding the streets and all the poor street dogs everywhere we went.

Had a lovely visit yesterday at Rob and Mary Linda's new apartment, which is only about half an hour from us (yes, DR Jane, we're very lucky!).  They were getting ready to paint the living/dining room and I put shelf liner in as many kitchen cupboards as I could until we ran out of material.  ML is going to buy more and I'll finish on Wednesday while Rob uses my hatchback to transport some boxes.

And they are lucky to have you close by to help them :)

A film producer/director acquaintance of E&T DR Julie and mine just posted on Facebook a dialogue written by a "four year-old writer" for his creations to do in a Superman scenario. If I, at four years of age, had written something with so many f-bombs, I would have had my mouth washed out with soap and would most likely still be confined to my room!

 :o ::)

I'm sure I didn't even know the word when I was four.

I need to go back to school.  I was working on the slide show for the lobby for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, and I had 25 slides and 24 transitions....20 seconds total for each slide/transition combo.....and for some reason I thought that added up to 17 minutes of music....so when I looked at it, the last slide ran for about 10 minutes....

Had to go back and take some - or rather - a LOT of the music out....

When Ricky and Lucy showed slides of Little Ricky, the slides went on so long that Fred and Ethel walked out.  So on that basis, if  no one walked out, it's likely nothing to worry about.

Sorry to have been scarce yesterday, but it was a travel day. We are now vacationing at the beach in sunny south New Jersey - and it is glorious. I'll try to post photos later in the week. This is a delightful and much-needed respite, plus a chance to spend time with family. A summer tradition for almost 40 years now.

It sounds nice.

DR Jennifer - you do know that you can adjust the font size on the Kindle, right? That was one of the main selling points, for me.

I can also adjust the print on the Nook, unfortunately there are some books that can't be adjusted and I don't know why.

Nice pictures, DR Doug R!  Was it a good trip?

Yes I liked Bucharest DR ChasSmith. The Romanian people are extremely friendly and polite people.

I truly think you and I went to two different countries, and we were traveling with a Romanian.  The people in the business of customer service, hotels & restaurants & shops, were very friendly.  Almost everyone else was horrible.  I had people on the streets glare at me.  By the end of our time there I was walking down the streets looking at my feet.

We did travel to some lovely towns & saw some pretty scenery.  Best of all was spending time with Craig.  It was hard leaving him again.

This is an article about my dad and brother that was in the paper yesterday

Nice article! So you come by lawyering naturally.

Thanks!  Yes, Dad was the first lawyer in the family, then me, then my brother.  He owned a clothing store and did some other things before law school

But they left out the part where you are also a defense lawyer. ;D

She is the most amazing person I know.  No matter what she's been through, she is happy smiling and upbeat. She really inspires me

She is incredible.  I hope the new arm gives her back her independence.

I'm up, I'm up - this happens every time we do a show - I cannot fall asleep the night before and thus it was last night - I think I finally fell asleep a little after four and slept straight through to eleven so maybe that's six and a half hours tops - not enough, but hopefully I'll be fine by show time both vocally and in terms of being peppy.

That is more sleep than I got last night, or most nights.

That's the historic center which is full of restaurants, cafes and bars. I had read about stray dogs but saw none at all. I think the authorities must have removed them all!

Well, her much-younger parents are coming next weekend to help with the heavy lifting.

Thanks for the comments about the articles.  While I know the article about Sharon is scary, she has never been down about it. We talked for 2 1/2 hours Friday night and she is so upbeat, funny and happy to be alive that you can't help but be inspired by her

She is amazing.

I don't know if you remember me posting photos of Annalene's baby Harry last year when everyne on the recording fell in love with him. He's now nearly two, just home from hospital, and looking great.  He won't be coming to Dublin this year.

I remember when everyone fell in love with Harry.  He is a cutie.  Should I remember why he was in the hospital?

we drove straight through to Kissimmee, FL last Friday -  took nearly 24 hours -  the first 3 hours we only made 98 miles due to road construction ...  the trip home was about 18 hours which is a more typical time frame  it would have been a little less if I did not take a wrong turn and detour us through Philadelphia

I hope it was the pretty sections of Philly.

RE: Today's song - love it, and love the rendition.
DR Laura - glad that you found a bug.
DRs elmore3003 and Doug R - thanks for the great photos!
DR Jennifer - you do know that you can adjust the font size on the Kindle, right? That was one of the main selling points, for me.

Yes the book i am talking about is in hardcover, not on my kindle.

I thought you meant on your kindle.  I was surprised the print problems would be with a current book as mine have been with older books.

I have noticed more and more the print in books is smaller, or even worse in a very light print.

They don't remove, they bludgeon them to death.  My friend Nancy Janes started Romanian Animal Rescue and has worked hard with caring people in Romania, with donations from around the world, to help spay & neuter the strays & educate the people.  She has made an amazing difference in the situation there.

A week ago I mentioned that the French TV channel TV5, which is available in the UK, showed THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG. Today they showed Jacques Demy's later follow-up all-singing film UNE CHAMBRE EN VILLE which I'd never seen before. The film was poorly received and wasn't widely distributed but what a great shame because, having just seen it, I thought it was really superb. Like, UMBRELLAS, it features an all-consuming love affair but is set against a workers' industrial dispute and is wholly more dramatic as well as a more operatic film and also a much bolder one. The beautiful Dominique Sanda (sung by Florence Davis) gives a particularly good performance. Next Sunday the channel is showing Demy's LES DEMOISELLES DE ROCHEFORT which I've never seen either.

As an animal lover, I can certainly understand Jane and I'm glad that you and the organisation you helped set up were at least able to be of some help.

No, because I never mentioned that he was in hospital. I knew he was hospitalized but I couldn't get Annalene to tell me what was going on. She and Simon had other priorities than my questions so I didn't say anything. I am so happy he's okay.

Watching "Silver Linings Playbook." Some really strong performances and I love the little bits of ballroom that are included, but David O. Russell just isn't my favorite director.

I didn't help set it up.  I have only donated money.  I found this wonderful woman after we returned home from our trip there & searched for animal rescue groups in Romania.  I was amazed to find this woman from California who set up the rescue group after hiking in the Romanian mountains.

I'm glad you found the streets void of half starved dogs.  It makes visiting a place much nicer :)
