I am getting scared reading about these "directors."

"Be afraid...be very afraid!"

Well, this is very cool!  An e-mail was sent to the entire library staff about this news story, which was filmed at the Olympia Timberland Library:

'Doodey the Combat Camel' - funny-sounding title for a serious book.

TOD:  I'd remake a few of my own films, using the original scripts and just getting better directors who knew what they were doing:  DRASGONHEART; DOA; KULL THE CONQUEROR.

I'd love to see your version of Dragonheart. I loved the original, so improving upon it would all be for the good.

John, did you know that Charles Pogue published a novelization of his original script?  Highly recommended.  There is one unusual review on Amazon.  There are seven 5-star ratings and one 3-star rating.  This is what the person wrote for the 3-star rating:

Quote
I bought this to read to my Grandchildren who love dragons. It is an old copy and I paid very little for it here on Amazon but the story and the fantsay is priceless. I am all about teaching kids that dragons are something special in a make believe world.

That description doesn't sound like a 3-star rating to me. :-\

Thank you. I didn't know that. Will check it out.

Back from Dayton, where I had a nice visit with my grantwriter friends.  In about an hour, I have to go over to a nearby park to staff a voter registration table at a community night out festival.

The Cuckoo's Calling.

That is the title of my new memoir.

And now I am off to our first show....with an AUDIENCE......a very non-discriminating audience to be sure....but still hopefully they will have some kind of reaction to what is happening onstage.....

And not to change the subject, even though the subject of teeth is getting us through Page Four pretty damned quickly, but THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO is just incredible.  What a story!  Can't wait to see the others...in spite of what DR Jane thought of them

I thought the second two books were terrific, far better than the first one ;D

I think my two wisdom teeth came in very late because I was originally told I didn't have any.  I can't remember if they are top or bottom.  I only know they are still there.  I'm guessing bottom and possible the reason those teeth have become a bit crooked over the years.

Somehow, Cillaliz, I think you'd have to have four impacted wisdom teeth removed and heavy-duty pain pills to get you to sit still on a vacation.

I'm reading it on my Kindle.  I got the downloaded e-book from my library.  My checkout period actually expired a few days ago, but as long as I don't turn on my Wi-Fi and synch up my Kindle, it can stay there for however long I want. :D

i know what bk's darling daughter is about to go through. Last thursday I spent almost three hours in the endodontist chair. I had three teeth removed and flipper put in and other work done.  I am still in pain. Luckily I have lots of pain killers.

Five days to Dublin!  The strange dreams continue, I figure I'm due for one really grisly anxiety attack before I leave.

Understandable with the pressure you have been on, however......

NO ANXIETY ATTACK VIBES AND MAY EVERYTHING BE GREAT IN DUBLIN!!!!!

Renewing my lease on my apartment...and once again the rent is going up. I wish they would stop doing that! LOL!

Rent keeps going up, but my salary does not  :'(

Have you tried renegotiating for a lower amount?

Back from a lunch meeting and picking up some packages but not the overdue ones.  I have already received a refund on one of them and had that seller removed from the ABE, and I'll wait a couple more days on the other one.

I am about 80% of the way through the Cuckoo book, and enjoying it very much. Very well written.

DR Jane, did you know that Lisa Gardner has a new book coming out today. Well it is a book she wrote as Alicia Scott before she became famous. So she is reissuing the 3 book series under her own name. The first one called Maggie's Man comes out today. I am going to reserve/suggest it at my library.

Thanks for letting me know.  Please tell me if you like it.  I still have "Touch & Go" to read.  I kept hoping my library would get it.  I'll make it my next purchase for my Nook.

I also recommend the book.  I find it interesting this person read it to the grandchildren.  I didn't think of younger children at all when reading it.

John Huston used to say:  "Why do they always remake our good films?  Why don't they remake our bad ones?"

Exactly!!

Wonderful quote.  There are many movies that just kind of miss the boat & might catch it with a good remake.  Leave perfection alone.

One foolish actress on Facebook actually castigated people who were annoyed by being awakened in the middle of the night by the sound of the amber alert - she actually said that people should get over it and implied they didn't care about child abduction if they were annoyed.  This gal makes many noxious posts - everything is about her and she's truly irritating at times, but her posts show up on my newsfeed ALL the time and I really have to refrain from making comments.  I must tell you that several months ago I was approached about producing a recording of a show she was in - I didn't like the production much but they agreed that everyone but this gal would be replaced and so I went about getting permission to record it, which only I could do.  After reading her latest post today, I am probably going to say I won't do it if she's involved.  She does a lot of Waiver theater but isn't exactly a known commodity, and she's really kind of turned my stomach with her latest.  And that's the danger of abusing Facebook in textbook ways of what you shouldn't do.

Hover over her name on facebook and unclick on "show in newsfeed".

I did this last week to a "friend" who is in several of my groups.  He triplicated just about everything.    My FB pages are much nicer now & I can still see what he puts up, which is fine just not over & over & over again, when I feel like it.

Yes, several films should be remade...."Mame", "Man of La Mancha", "Phantom of the Opera", "Nine", and, just because it ought to be sung by "real" singers, "Sweeney Todd" (although the production was superb).

Again at odds with Elmore:  "Brigadoon" is far from turkey.  Should it have been shot on location?  Yes.  Was it done as well as could be done on a soundstage?  Yes.  Its glory is the score which is sublime in the hands of the MGM Music Department.

I'll vote for a remake with the understanding that the MGM orchestrations (and a comparable orchestra) are to be used.  And also with the understanding that no one is cast in the Van Johnson role that is remotely as unappealing as Mr. Johnson was.

Interestingly, BRIGADOON was purchased by MGM as a vehicle for Howard Keel, but then Gene Kelly said that he wanted to do it, so Howard lost out.
