TOD:  I'd remake a few of my own films, using the original scripts and just getting better directors who knew what they were doing:  DRASGONHEART; DOA; KULL THE CONQUEROR.

I'd love to see your version of Dragonheart. I loved the original, so improving upon it would all be for the good.

John, did you know that Charles Pogue published a novelization of his original script?  Highly recommended.  There is one unusual review on Amazon.  There are seven 5-star ratings and one 3-star rating.  This is what the person wrote for the 3-star rating:

Quote
I bought this to read to my Grandchildren who love dragons. It is an old copy and I paid very little for it here on Amazon but the story and the fantsay is priceless. I am all about teaching kids that dragons are something special in a make believe world.

That description doesn't sound like a 3-star rating to me. :-\

I also recommend the book.  I find it interesting this person read it to the grandchildren.  I didn't think of younger children at all when reading it.

Jane, one of my problems with the movie, they took a lot of its darker hues out of it, so they could sell bendy Dragonheart toys (which they didn't).  While I thought it a film families could safely go to; I never intended it to be a kiddie film.  I also believe that kids can handle darker tones in material; read faery tales sometime.  Very dark a lot of them.

Listening to the basic material for an upcoming two CD set - one that is very atypical for us but interesting - part of it has been out before and part hasn't.  The release will contain the score from the film (which has not been out), and the score that was replaced (which has been out before).  I'm doing it because it's interesting and because I know it will sell out.

But next Monday's release is the berries - the real berries - one of my all-time favorite films and scores from my favorite year in film and even though it's been out previously it was an instant sell out and I believe there are 1000 fans of the film that never even knew about the prior release.  We have the score as issued previously and two cues that were not on that release - we were able to salvage them in not very good sound, but I just like having them on there.

Well, "Hollywood Who Done It" rehearsal went well tonight.  We got through most of act 2, but we still need to work on a couple of scenes.  One big scene had too much going on to block it tonight, so that will have its own rehearsal time scheduled.

Darn...I totally forgot that today was the Washington primaries.  I forgot to send in my ballot (hangs head in shame).  But watching some of the results, the two leading candidates are the incumbent, Mike McGinn and State Senator Sam Murray are the two who will advance to the general elections.  If Sam Murray is elected, he will become Seattle's very first openly gay mayor! :) He also had 30% of the vote to McGinn's 27%, "in partial results released Tuesday night."
