Good morning, all.

Glad to hear the music is flowing smoothly in Dublin, Elmore.

Best of luck on the auditions, Mike.

More vibes for Richard.

I placed an order at the library for Seconds just this past week. I wasn't familiar with it, but the names Frankenheimer, Hudson, Randoph, Geer, et al. made me really curious. Now, I just wish they'd get it to me.

TOD:

DVD: Parade's End, The Killing second season

CD: High Spirits, Under the Bridge (a Kathy Lee Gifford musical that I hadn't listened to in a while)

Car CD: Anne of Green Gables and a history of the Texas Rangers (perfect for driving across the state in search of barbecue)

Tomorrow is the annual Independence Day picnic for the India-US Friendship organization, Salem chapter. I am in charge of prizes for the kids games, which I have already picked up at Dollar Tree. Now I just need to figure out what to bring, food wise.

Grand-nephew Cole and grand-niece Harper will be attending with me. It should be lots of fun...well, it will definitely will be interesting to see how I do dealing with a 1 year old in tow! Normally I wait until age 3 before taking the little ones out and about on my own..but there will be lots of moms there to help me if I find myself lost on what to do.

Awww...Mikey.  I think you should consider becoming a father yourself!

No, no, no. I enjoy spending time with the little ones, but I am completely happy to be able to return them to their parents once (my) exhaustion sets in!

Of course it is my duty, as an uncle, to return them highly sugared up!

Speaking of Anne of Green Gables, as JohnG did in his post above...I sure wish that TCM would show the sequel to that film titled Anne of Windy Poplars. Saw it way back around 1990 on AMC and haven't spotted it playing since.

TCM shows Anne of Green Gables all of the time.

Have been watching a lot of Punjabi films lately, and this newcomer, Jimmy Sharma, has really gotten my notice. Very good actor and a spectacular dancer!

Can't wait for his next film to release!

I am not complaining about the perfectly lovely weather we've been having in the metro-NYC area these past 3 weeks!       :)

I'm complaining about ours.  The days are glorious, but the nights are warm and breezeless...decidedly uncharacteristic.  Night time is when the fog rolls in and cools us off...natural HVAC, so to speak.  The past two nights, however, have been too warm.

I'm up thanks to the ringing of the telephonic device a little before nine - I really wish people would not call before ten - I have no idea who it was but I'll listen to the message in a bit.

No kidding.  This is exceptional.

Not exactly what one thinks of when one thinks of August, but we had that in July, and we haven't had a real Dog Days August in a few years.  2010 was hot all summer, so that was the last really hot August, I think.

Thanks for the continued vibes for Richard.  He survived a major aftermath maneuver, but it pretty much wiped him out.

I don't share Peter Filichia's enthusiasm for Tovarich (I'm a Silk Stockings fan myself), but I did enjoy his column today.

The Vixter had to leave for work this morning at 6:30 but I heard her come in and leave me a note -- it reads in  part "if you look in the fridge I left you a birthday lunch"

I did look in the fridge and there is a gift wrapped package in there!  So I will have birthday surprise for lunch I guess!!

Nice! :)

I am doing something i haven't done in about 17 years. I am auditioning for two plays tomorrow. One is a male version of Vanities. The playwright rewrote his original play about cheerleaders as football players.

The other one is Love! Valour! Compassion! which I've seen the as a movie. the play is quite different and there is nudity which I've never done before, but after all these years I've thought what the hell why not give it a try.

Break Legs, Mike!!

Pwoject Wunway Afterthoughts:

Another (the 3rd) "unconventional materials" challenge of the season.  Oy!

Team challenge (teams of 3).

One team completely mismatched and an instant losing team.

Tim Gunn was not much of a mentor to them.  Normally, he would say "Well, MAKE IT WORK!"  Not last night.  Nossir.  Last night he said it was a guaranteed bottom finisher.  He expressed exasperation.  He offered nothing but contempt.

When he led the models of the top and bottom finishers down to the judges for a closer look, he confided that the losing team caused him to "lose it" in the workroom.

That, to me, was a very mealy-mouthed and self-serving comment to make given that he offered nothing in the way of "mentorship" to any of the three struggling designers.

I am very disappointed in this season...and in most of the judging, thus far.
