No more bacon. Just writing up a scotch dinner that costs an unbelievable $1,500 a person. I won't be going. But it's nice to dream.

Only with me, it happens after Edith leaves for lunch and before I can get out the door

Followed by a cooking class with a half-dozen or so bacon dishes. It came with a cookbook called "Bacon Nation."

They are working on having a Sioux City Bacon Festival, the Iowa Bacon Festival is really growing like crazy in Des Moines  http://signup.siouxcitybaconfestival.com/

I think Burger King had a bacon sundae or a hot fudge with bacon or something, it was good...sweet and salty

My fall dance card is getting full.   I have absolutely no idea when I can fit in NYC.

And the word of the day is: QUINCUNX!

I read the book by Charles Palliser more than 20 years ago. Don't make the same mistake I did. It was Dickens without all the sunlight.

I am reading The Cuckoo's Calling and enjoying it.  At the point I'm at now, though, she's almost introduced too many characters for my taste. But I'm only about 2/3 through the book, so maybe it will all tie together.  But I do really love the main characters and hope she turns this into a series.

I don't have time to read it. I'm only up to page 160. And yes, there are a great many characters already.

Good night, all.

Quote
Consumption –Last year attendees of the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival and “Bacon Week” consumed 6,000 lbs of bacon which is approximately 96,000 strips. If laid end to end it would nearly be half the diameter of Neptune!

My favorite quote from the bacon festival website. Of course anything that mentions Neptune makes me laugh.  Don't know why

I don't have trouble keeping the straight or anything, it just seems that there are SOOO many that are likely  red herrings that I don't know whether I should really pay attention to them all

Tomorrow night it's movie night in my friends' back yard.  They are showing 1000 Clowns. I haven't seen it before so I'm looking forward to it.  I really enjoy movie night.

Saturday night is the annual 'hootenanny" (or however you spell that).  Which is really just a party where people sing and where I usually play my flute.   I think I'm going to just go to the party and not play this year. There are apparently a bunch of people who want to perform. I'll just hang out for awhile and if it gets old, I can walk home.  Gotta love a party a few blocks away

And the people who are usually the "house band" and are very good friends of mine aren't playing this year.  I don't know the people who are playing.  Good excuse to listen instead of performing

Last night we had a thunderstorm and one bolt literally made me jump up in bed.  That made me laugh, of course, but it was really loud

Seriously, unless you're vegetarian, who doesn't like bacon?
