Interesting notes today on both the burger and the show.

Reminds me of that apocryphal Larry Gelbart quip:
If Hitler's alive today, I hope he's out of town with a musical.

Thinking of those old Broadway ads:

A little out of sync between visual and audio, but here are the outdoor SHENANDOAH ads

Funny that those Shenandoah ad clips actually have a YouTube ad (at least on my machine) you must sit through before the show ads...

On mine, it did not even give the option of skipping the 15-second ad.  seems unusual

Thank you for sharing those, DR FJL.

The 30-piece orchestra must be just off-camera.       :)

Love those Shenandoah commercials (I did get the chance to skip the ad). But Cullum's lip-synching was not the best with the baby squirming in his arms.

Had some wonderful fresh tomatoes and green beans for dinner last night from a co-worker's garden. She also gave me an eggplant and some yellow bell peppers.

Good morning, all!

I have another free day, and I will spend it watching the final season of LARK RISE TO CANDLEFORD. After that, perhaps a few BBC Christmas ghost stories.

I was sorry to learn of Julie Harris' death. I met her only once, during my Drama Book Shop days, and she was a beautiful, charming lady.

DR TCB, that white noise youtube video IS NOT what the machine sounds like.  It is much less staticy. IT is actually very pleasant.  I listened to a few youtube videos to try to find one that matched the machine i have. But they were all off. It really does sound like a loud soothing fan.

Happy to finally hear what an Umami Burger is all about.  I'd seen references to it but never took the trouble to read them.  I'm glad the burger and other foodstuffs were serviceable, and that the order for "medium" worked out well.

Those pictures of early Bunker Hill, etc., are amazing.  I didn't think there'd be much there that I hadn't seen, but there was.  It's worth looking down that entire page.

At the bottom, there's a link called "The Remains of a Hollywood Playground Wiped Off the Map".  It's not what you think.  That one's probably more interesting for me as, back in my flying days, I used to go down to those abandoned streets off LAX with a portable aircraft-band radio and listen and watch the planes, and there'd usually be a few other people doing the same.  It wasn't a fenced-off forbidden zone then.

I was going to fact-check DR Kerry's post, but on reflection that's probably not necessary.

Boy, we are still having some fabulously beautiful days.  I need to do some mowing and other work, myself, and the conditions are perfect.

Enjoyed the clips from yesterday.

I am not sure that I am ready to see an ANNE FRANK musical....unless it's an Outside the Box episode....

I watched A ROYAL SCANDAL on TCM last night, and it was very funny.....

I must see the Czarina....I will give you all I have....fifty rubles.

You dare to try to bribe the Chancellor of all the Russias......with fifty rubles?

And so you have ridden for three days and three nights without sleep?

Yes, your majesty...and I wore out at least a dozen horses.

Perhaps the young soldier should spend the night here in the palace.

So you are the Chancellor, the man who is ruining Russia.

Are you serving in the east?

No, I am from the west.

News travels faster than it used to.
