TOD:

I've had a couple of situations where my credit card was compromised.

The most "interesting" one was when I went to Ireland in 1999 to make THE DOORWAY.  The day before I left, I called the credit card company, got my account balance...including everything that was pending...then sent them a check for the full amount.  While I was in Ireland for 2 months, since my expenses were being paid and I had a cash per diem, I didn't use the card once.

When I got home and got my first credit card bill, I saw that about $260.00 had been charged to it during my absence to a company on the East coast that I'd never heard of.  One call the the credit card company settled the matter...but it was an annoyance.

I'm up, barely, awakened by the ringing of the doorbell and she of the Evil Eye.

DR Druxy,

What is The Doorway?  Is it a movie?

It is a movie I wrote and directed for Roger Corman in Ireland.  It starred Roy Scheider.

Cousin Dee Dee just sent a mass e-mail saying her beloved dog Casey, who I've known since they brought him home, was viciously murdered yesterday when she was walking him near her mom's house in Bel-Air or Brentwood, can't remember which.  A dog came out of nowhere, Dee Dee quickly snatched Casey in her arms but the dog leapt and grabbed Casey and then proceeded to maul Casey while Dee Dee screamed and frantically tried to get the dog off Casey.  She finally got Casey away, immediately drove her to the nearby vet but it was too late.  She found the house and owner of the dog - they didn't seem to care and apparently it's not the first time this has happened.  She reported it to Animal Care who said they'd "investigate."  The police don't give a crap, although if it had been a human that had been attacked they sure as hell would give a crap.  The owner of that dog needs to have that dog put down now before it happens again.  And if that dog weren't on a leash, well, then the owner should have some responsibility here.  I've a good mind to find out the address and go over there myself, but what can you do with wealthy, entitled pieces of dung?  I cannot imagine Animal Care not taking action but apparently they don't.  If anyone here has had any experience with this kind of thing, let me know if there's a better course of action to take and I'll pass it along.

Heartbreaking, and just plain outrageous.  I have no idea what to do, except it would probably make sense to contact every animal protection group in the area.  Do that first, because they'll know what further steps to take, and how to take them.  What a horrible thing.

Small claims court, BK. I think Dee Dee can sue them for a maximum of $5,000, and I agree that every animal protection and adoption service should be made aware of the situation.  If the killer dog were off a leash and running loose, she's got plenty of ammo.

I had an awful dinner, and I've taken my daily meds. I won't take the pain meds until 8:00 or so.
