I'll just say I adore Shirley Temple's movies.  But in talking about great kid performances - Patty Duke in The Miracle Worker would rank at the top of the list, along with Patricia Gozzi in Sundays and Cybele.  Henry what's his name from ET was great, too.

Henry Thomas.

And thank you, Druxy, for the reminder of Peggy Ann Garner. That Christmas scene with the tree always gets to me.

Yes, I have to agree BK.  Patty Duke was tremendous in The Miracle Worker.  I would have to put her on the top of my list also.

Interesting: One of the local theaters is going to be staging Carrie the Musical next season before Halloween. Didn't think we'd ever see that.

Yes, I also agree DR Druxy.  Peggy Ann Garner as Francie Nolan was another memorable actress.

I just love A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Also everytime I see The Miracle Worker I still cry at the end.

Kismet is back home and was so happy to see me. There is no way I can write here to describe how I felt at that moment.

Very good news, Mike!!

Good morning, all! In another hour I can leave the apartment for my first round of physical therapy, and it cannot arrive soon enough. I can barely stand and keep my balance, I can hardly walk,and I cannot reach up; any attempt to raise my arms results in tremendous tugging in my groin, and I am actually most comfortable lying on my back with my head slightly elevated. Unfortunately, a turn to my left side or right side can result in a constant electric-shock pain running up and down which ever leg I am putting pressure on.  And when I stand, with my cane, I never know what turn will put pressure on my left knee and I will be forced to find a chair or some other means of taking the pressure away; the other day I fell down, and I do not want that to happen in public.  If the physical therapy can repair this, let's do it.

I slept terribly last night, and as a consequence, my body did not want to get out of bed. I suspect I will g back to bed as soon as I get in from my appointment.

~~~CONTINUED FEEL BETTER VIBES!!~~~
Good morning, all.... oops, it's afternoon.
Oh well, after opening week of hell in a period piece handbasket, it's morning to me.  :D
First... the dog thing. Infuriating. I hope the owners get dragged through the proverbial mud - while it's filled with snakes.
Opening of the show went well, and again, my thanks for all of the well-wishes from all of the DR's and BK.
I should say, it went as well as it could, considering the no-nothing running it all. Funny that the faux director slinked away without saying goodbye. I guess he knew we all wanted to strangle him.
We will make the best of it now, but the first reviews are out - very kind to the actors, but they all point to muddled story-telling, which is the one of the things the director was clueless about, and never addressed. Ever.
Ah, well, it's all blood under the bridge, a small paycheck, and some very good castmates to collaborate with now that we're free to do so.
Onward and upward. I'll try and catch up with the goings-on here now.
Cheers!
Ginny I thought of you yesterday while watching the Michigan game with my brother and niece.
Thanks, DR Jane!  At least you didn't have to stay up 'til midnight to see how it turned out!
We were up late since my brother "paused" the game until after the rest of the family had gone home.  The plus side was the ability to skip the commercials :)
Speaking of dogs there were tons of them yesterday at 5:30pm when i went for my bike ride at the lake. Tons.  There is a dog park (enclosed gate) there too. Most of them were there. But the dogs are also allowed to walk (on a leash) around the lake. There were probably 50 dogs doing that. So it made bike riding much more difficult (since you have to slow down in case the dog jumps in front of you, which they don`t do 99% of the time).
You are smart to watch for jumping dogs.  Echo was one of those but I would say "leave" before she jumped and she would be fine, even off leash.  One must be diligent about their dogs faults to prevent problems.
Whenever I see a kid or a dog i slow down because you just never know. The only time i ever had a problem was when a dog went in front of the bike. The owner was holding the leash so i assumed the dog was on it (it wasn`t). It was totally the owners fault since the dogs have to be on a leash. And i was able to slam on my brakes.
I hope the owner was appropriately embarrassed & apologetic.
My parent's had not seen the Miracle Worker prior to the Oscar's and didn't believe me when I insisted Patty Duke would win.  They thought she was too young.  Boy have things changed since then.
And I am back from physical therapy. It  was god to see Gurjeet and his staff, Luis, Lisa, and a new girl Morgan. I'm getting deep heat massage and three stretching exercises. Next round on Thursday.
I am extremely pleased the deep heat massage was included.
I had an interesting experience this weekend.  I attended our niece's baby shower at a wonderful old home hosted by the wife of my brother's long time, good friend Ronny.  My ex SIL is also good friend's with the hostess.  I've been hearing about these people for years but it wasn't until I walked into their living room and discovered, by the decor, that I was in the home of Ronny's grandfather, composer Arnold Schoenberg.
With a bit of research I also discovered the hostess is the daughter of composer Eric Zeisl.
It was a lovely garden party and I had fun visiting with people I haven't seen since the wedding in January.
