Oy!   I see I posted "the DR version" instead of "the DR Charles Pogue version" this morning.    :-[     Mucho apologies.

I knew what you meant.

We're off to see the Wizard.

I just got a call from our friend on Long Island and we have tickets for the Friday evening (September 20th) showing of The Wizard of Oz in 3-D and IMAX. Our friend (he's 81 years old) has never seen the movie and this was a good way to get him to see it. Anthony will go out early next week and take care of some business on LI and I will go out Friday after work and we will spend the weekend out there.

They are making a big deal of the re-release in anticipation of the 75th Anniversary. After this 1-week special engagement they will release a special Blue-Ray edition of WOO (along with a digital download, if I recall correctly).

I'm excited to see it because our friend has never seen it but this is one of those times when you scratch your head and say "Why are you doing this? The movie was fine without the enhancements"

Oh, well. A good time will be had by all.

I had not heard of this!  where is it showing?

Very exciting news today - you'll remember that I'm going to be producing a new studio cast recording of And the World Goes Round - we've just set the two men for the recording and you won't believe it: Brent Barrett and Jason Graae.  I suspect we're on our way to something special!

tell me you will record in NYC and I can attend  and the news will be perfect!!!

Congratulations!!

Vixdad bought our first computer in 1996-- the Vixter was 3 and she immediately began playing the educational games  Vixdad installed for her   and was soon teaching me how to use the  dang thing (she still is showing me how to do stuff)

We had dial up AOL  for years...

my first groups were "mother's groups"  and then I discovered ebay... a great source for cheap toys

Spoo!  Wish I had stopped in earlier to see DR George is going to Secondhand Lions.  I'm not sure if Rupert is there or in New York working on A Time To Kill, but I would have told George to say hello to him for me if he's there. Can't wait to hear about the show

I think I went online back in 1992. It was AOL and all words, no pictures.  It was a big deal when the WWW came along.  Have been online ever since.  Back then it was a fortune in phone bills as we didn't have a local access number, but I still did it

It's been a busy busy week.   Yesterday I went to the Iowa Court of Appeals.  The case before mine was a law suit by a woman who trains service dogs.  Drake U barred her from going in the law school with the dogs in training and she sued.  The case was dismissed and there was an appeal of the dismissal.  SOOOOO the dogs came to watch.  Seriously there were about 10 of them in the courtroom and apparently a number of others in a room with closed circuit tv.   The dogs are trained to bark when someone knocks on the door, so when the judges knocked to let the bailiff know they were ready to come in, the dogs all barked.  It was hysterical  They were perfectly behaved during the argument.   I have to say, it was something I'm glad I was there for.   My argument was pretty dull in comparison

I watched a lot of the Discovery 9-11 shows this week. On 9-11-01 I heard the news about it in my way to work. I was listening to a radio station that jokes around in the morning so I wasn't sure if they were telling the truth and it was when they didn't know about what sort of plane had hit the first tower so the reports were muddled.  I was working in the federal building then and the first office inside the door was Senator Grassley's local office.  They had the TV on and that's where I saw it for the first time.  I stayed there and watched for a while. As I was going up to my office I got the news that we were being evacuated because they didn't want anyone in federal buildings.

I watched tv for a while then went to the blood bank where the lines were blocks long.  I was there when we got the news that President Bush was going to Omaha.  All the media took off to go to Omaha..not sure why they thought they would have any sort of access to him.  That was the day they discovered my irregular heartbeat but they did let me donate blood.  I think we all wanted to do something and it was the only thing we could think of to do from this far away.

I had just stayed at the Marriott World Trade Center 10 months earlier and had been at a luncheon at Windows on the World. I remembered being in the towers like it was the day before - especially looking out from the upper floors.  I think it made the impact even stronger for me.  I didn't know anyone who died personally, but it really impacted me all the same.

Speaking of NYC, there just isn't any way I'm going to make it there this fall.  I'm still thinking about January and hope ATTK is still running.

The town I live in is one of the blue zone projects.  They are trying to get everyone to eat healthy, exercise and to all sorts of healthy things.  Maybe this is bad but when I hear them talking I want to go get a burger, fries and a shake and maybe a hot fudge sundae.   I just hate a town telling me how to eat, exercise etc

Just finished a wonderful western called "The Day the Cowboys Quit," by Elmer Kelton. It was based on an actual event in which cowboys went on strike back in the late 1800s. Quite fascinating.

My website's WordPress is all screwed up and so is the site. I have no idea what happened, but I can't update anything on it. Irritating.
