I don't see any differences in "options" between "Reply" and "Quick Reply".

With Quick Reply you don't get the bells and whistles.

wait!  There are bells?

On the hill.

And today in 1925, 88 years ago, DEAREST ENEMY opened at the Knickerbocker Theatre and remains young.

Ah, yes, I remember it well.

You need to hire a personal assistant, DR Elmore.

I really do! I stayed down at the laundromat while the clothes washed. They're now in the dryer for the next hour. What is killing me is navigating the stairs up to the front door and the stairs up to the lobby.  I cannot put pressure on my left foot and, whenI do, the pain is unbearable.  I worry about navigating the steps with a cane and a bundle of dry laundry. Goddam it.

I wish I could be there to help you.  I would be such help, especially on the stairs.

I think DR CILLA LIZ should immediately go to Des Moines and make an offer on that house!

 ;D

If it wasn't so far away from here, I'd be right on it, lol

Happy Wandering Wednesday to all...

Okay, it's wandering day to me, as I wander back to La Jolla for the penultimate week of shows. Turns out we are not extending, which is a mixed blessing. One less week of filling in the holes of a Swiss cheese script, but at the same time one less paycheck.

The most important thing - I got my confirmation call from Mr. Sterling that I am confirmed for the new Kritzerland show on Oct. 7th! Can't wait!

Great news ryacko!

I know a number of you have read some of my December missives posted from my mom's computer in Johnston SC over the past years.

Among the colorful (at least, to me) people I've named in my posts is my Uncle Rock Bledsoe...a true character.  He was born in (or near) Johnston SC some 80 years ago and there he remains.

Recently a TV crew from Augusta GA caught up with him at a Strom Thurmond High School (!) football game (this high school is "it" for Edgefield County SC, and Thurmond was born and raised and is the favorite son of Edgefield County).

My uncle's cachet for TV news (and they were there covering the game, I believe) is that he has been working the sidelines of the Thurmond football officiating crew for almost 46 years.  As he indicates, he started in 1967 when his son (my cousin Butch) was quarterback of the team.

WJBF TV New Feature on my Uncle Rock

P.S.  Any resemblance my uncle has to Frank Sinatra is purely imaginary.

Great story!!

Today, at the old actors lunch, I mentioned something about Audra McDonald would probably demand that she get "My Favorite Things" in the December SOM.  They all looked at me as if I had three heads.  None of them had heard about the TV production.

In the original, that song is sung by the Mother Abbess and Maria, so she wouldn't have to demand that. It's part of her role.

Had a brief fit of pique this morning. Saw on half.com a book called "Barbecue Lovers' Guide to Texas" from my publisher that was due next year. It had a cover photo of ribs low over charcoal and another of Sloppy Joes. Neither of these is Texas style.

Thankfully, the publisher says it's just a placeholder and not at all the real cover.

I love Sloppy Joes.  I will even eat Manwich on occasion.

My new mattress will be delivered one week from today.  It seems so far away!

I think I will stop at Wally World tomorrow on my way home from the doctor and see what kind of mattress toppers they have.

Singdaw, I got laid off my last newspaper job a few years back and felt like something had been snuffed out in my life. I was at a very low ebb, probably because I define myself too much by my work. It took months before some venues opened to me. Some were lousy, but filled with good lessons. Others were mixed blessings. And there were a few outright wonders.

Throughout, there were great friends, including my HHW family, and a good deal of prayers that helped see me through.

When the time is right, it will happen for you. And until then, your family is here for you.

The sloppy joes here are made with leftover brisket all chopped up and marinated in a sweet sauce.
