Jrand - Do I recall correctly that Zachary Spicer is an actor you know who hails from your area?

Either way, he got a nice mention in the Times, which I may have missed mention of:

TOD - back in the 1970s, DR Elmore produced a couple of memorable cabaret shows right here in Middletown, OH.  I remember, at one of them, hearing "Coffee in a Cardboard Cup" for the first time.  And being asked how many snakes I'd had to kill to make the pants I was wearing...

Picture!!

Alas, I have no photos of the "snake" pants, which were really just sparkly.  I guess Mike thought they looked like snakeskin...

From DR Jennifer:

Is it really that much different than her current style? Maybe she just got to be a better writer. I know she wrote these before she started writing under her real name.

To me it seemed like a mix of a romance novel with what we like about the novels under her own name (not really her own name because she changed her last name-lol).

Good morning.

Well, I wonder if Stephen Findle might be able to get Liza to do Sunset Boulevard. I think it would be ... interesting.

I still like my idea of a color-blind casting version of Show Boat (with Mandy Patinkin performing Old Man River).

Sorry, I don't agree with you and Patinkin with his high voice singing Old Man River doesn't work for me-lol

I am home from physical therapy The good news is that I can once again lie on my stomach with no grisly strain on the nerves fr a lower back massage, but the bad news is that I decided to try to get home using public transportation, which involved two buses and a transfer.

That was a strain: too much walking was bad enough but making the first step from the sidewalk to the door of my building put to much pressure on my bad foot and I nearly fell twice - even with the cane - in front of my super who rode the elevator up with me to be sure I got home safely.  I am home, but I'm a bit shaky at the moment.

Stress test vibes for DR DRUXY and PT vibes for DR ELMORE.

DR DRUXY my niece and her husband were in Austin this week for some kind of convention for films and stars, etc....is that where you were?

No, I was teaching a class, "The Art of Storytelling," at The Writing Barn.

Had a great time.

Good morning.  Well, I survived the weekend in the heights.  We're having fun, the reviews are good, I have a feeling the last weekend will be a ton of fun for all.

Today is Monday, which I guess is a ketchup day around here.  Went to the bike shop and picked up my newly tuned bike.  About ready to de-clutter the automobile and take it across the way to get a tire repaired.  Maybe I'll have time to work on this musical that I've been writing for almost a year.  (the music, anyway.  The lyrics are already written)

Or maybe I'll just go back to bed...

Oh, dear - I went back to bed at six-thirty, fell right asleep, then the phone rang a couple of times at nine, but I fell back asleep and just got up, which would be great if I didn't have to be at a noon lunch meeting at noon, which is thirty minutes from now.

Popping in to wish everyone a great Monday and a great week.

I survived the 5 show weekend only to stay in La Jolla to do a staged reading tonight with an afternoon rehearsa (soon). But it is written by the retired Judge who released Reuben Hurricane Carter from his incarceration. Interesting stuff.

This is the last week of the badly directed musical, so once I'm through it perhaps I can be a better DR here again.

And TOD:
The best cabaret show I saw was Bernadette Peters in the Blue Room in San Fran. Simply amazing.

Have a wonderful day, all!

I may have just overexerted myself moving furniture.

I need to get this place relatively accessible for the mattress delivery on Wednesday, but I may have blown it.

The best cabaret show I've ever seen was by no one anyone is likely to have heard of.

His name was Robert Mattson, and he was utterly brilliant.  His cabaret career only consisted of a few performances, before he succumbed to the HIV/AIDS virus.

In some wonderful, alternate universe, he's still beside the piano, crooning that high-larious Sinatra-meets-Springsteen medley for packed houses and tumultuous acclaim...

I think she mentioned that it was her usual mystery. But with more romance.

AND THE QUOTE OF THE DAY IS:

"Nothing very much happens in her books, and yet, when you come to the bottom of a page, you eagerly turn it to learn what will happen next.  Nothing very much does and again you eagerly turn the page.  The novelist who has the power to achieve this has the most precious gift a novelist can possess."

W.SOMERSET MAUGHAM,

I have a question DR'S, who is  he referring to?
