Well, I don't think I did any serious damage to myself. I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I will be going to bed very soon after a really hot bath.

Thank goodness you-know-who got kicked off "Project Runway" Thursday night.

It was way overdue, IMO.

From DR Jennifer:
Quote
Is it really that much different than her current style? Maybe she just got to be a better writer. I know she wrote these before she started writing under her real name.

To me it seemed like a mix of a romance novel with what we like about the novels under her own name (not really her own name because she changed her last name-lol).

I think she mentioned that it was her usual mystery. But with more romance.

IMHO there was too much focus on the angst of the romance than on the mystery.  I liked it but not as much as the other books and only plan to read the next two in the series through the library or discounted as this one was.

Well she wrote these before her best sellers. So i don't expect them to be as good.   I am curious if I will like the romance aspect. Will probably depend on how it is written and if i like the characters.

I think you will like the characters.

Good morning.

Well, I wonder if Stephen Findle might be able to get Liza to do Sunset Boulevard. I think it would be ... interesting.

I still like my idea of a color-blind casting version of Show Boat (with Mandy Patinkin performing Old Man River).

Sorry, I don't agree with you and Patinkin with his high voice singing Old Man River doesn't work for me-lol

It is the ridiculousness that makes it funny.

Good sleep to DR Elmore, and VIBES to all.

I will be E&T till late tomorrow night because I'm driving over to Morgantown WV to visit a few family members I only get to see once or twice per year, and this time I get to meet a couple of new ones.  My uncle (always one of my favorite relatives) is 80, and about ten years ago it was revealed to him for the first time that he was adopted.  Quite the shock, but another relative who's the expert in genealogy and research helped him track down his siblings, and (long story short) they all had the greatest time getting to know each other.  So we're having a li'l get-together in the hometown on my mother's side (Morgantown) which is a lovely and fascinating place for me.  Driving over in the morning, and returning Thursday afternoon.

I had a very nice day today. My DH and I drove up north, where it was much cooler. Lots of fall wildflowers, a few butterflies, and some birds.

TOD: The only ones I've seen are Brent Barrett solo, Brent with Karen Mason, and Sandy Bainum.  And they were all great!

I'm glad I didn't stay up for the rest of the Emmys.  I think it was one of the worst award shows ever (what I saw of it, at least!).  NPH did his best, though.

TOD: I have plenty of cabaret albums, but I've seen little of it. No one beats Bobby Short in my book, and I was fortunate enough to see him. When I lived in Sarasota, Fla., Ann Morrison was living there and she did two separate cabaret acts that were wonderful.

I love Neil Patrick Harris.   He's the bee's knees, and he's a great emcee for, well, pretty much anything.

That said, I passed on watching the Emmy Awards, because I have no emotional investment in them.  Sure, I like The Big Bang Theory, but really, that's about all the series TV I watch anymore.  I'm a movie girl.  I'd prefer watching a deeveedee, or whatever TCM is playing at any given time, than virtually anything the networks are offering these days.

That said, I like Behind the Candelabra just fine, and if it won anything, I'm happy.

Now that my ankle is feeling better I'll mention how clumsy I was this morning.  I went to the gym and when I got off the first workout machine I bashed the side of my ankle into a metal bar.  I was seeing stars.  I did a slow workout on both the stairmaster & the treadmill and then we went to Costco of all places.  It didn't help that I lost Keith for an extra amount of time than usual and kept walking around the store.

As we were leaving I had a pile of papers, including receipts for both our shopping & contacts I ordered, when a gust of wind blew them away from me in two different directions in the parking lot.  I'm sure I looked funny chasing them and had not Keith kept his eyes on one receipt it would have been lost.  Both kept blowing away each time I almost caught them so it took awhile-funny except my ankle didn't appreciate the humor of the situation. :)

Back from a three-mile jog, got the new Blu and Ray player hooked up, although can't seem to get the wireless Internet thing working - that was easy as pie on the other machine - just plugged in the wireless doohickey and it found it - I scanned but it didn't find the router - odd.  And I don't have a clew as to how to do that manually.  But I'd like it because then I could watch youtube stuff on the TV.

Topic of the Day:

I suppose that seeing Bernadette Peters or Patti LuPone "In Concert" actually counts as cabaret.  I've seen one-person concerts, but not an actual "cabaret" performance.  However, I have seen The Manhattan Transfer and (separately) Dave Brubeck at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle.  Those might count.

 ;)
