I've been looking at the deals for NYC in January.  I worry about the weather, but other than that, it's so much cheaper that I may try to go.  Not making any reservations yet

And I'll add JohnG to our list of esteemed authors.  Who's next to go down the author road.  I encourage everyone to try it - it's really a singular experience just to even try.

As a result of a published essay in the book Atheist Voices of Minnesota, I was asked to expand my essay into a full-length autobiography.  I told the publisher that I still have a lot of living to do.  Ask me again in 20 years.  (I think I'll actually be interesting then, LOL.)

Through the book, I have gotten asked to give presentations to atheist/humanist/Unitarian groups, which I'm more than happy to do.  I've gotten chances to meet wonderful people, and hopefully, to change a some people's lives for the better.

My pal James Zimmerman, who also has an essay in the book (and who is a far better writer than myself), has a book coming out about his deconversion from the Jehovah's Witnesses entitled Deliverance at Hand! coming out in mid-October.  I'm looking forward to reading it.

Ah, well, now that I finished watching my deeveedee of The Giant Claw for the umpteenth time, it's time for me to read a few chapters, and then, off to bed.

Nite all!

DR Elmore, maybe you should start writing while you are somewhat homebound.

I'm hungry.  And in buckwheat pancakes withdrawal.

They know how to eat in them thar hills of West Virginny.

Fortunately, buckwheat pancakes seem to be a regular thing at The Original Pancake House.  I say that because I've learned that in some places that serve them, they're only available "in season".  Which is what we're in right now.  The big buckwheat festival of Preston County, WV is starting this very day.

In season?  I didn't know buckwheats were seasonal.  I wonder if it's just after mating season?

I believe it is 6 weeks after mating season.

I was informed today that they would like me to appear at the 95th Anniversary Gala for the Tacoma Little Theatre.  The good news is that they would like me to speak because I have been a part of the theater's history for 57 of the 95 years, longer than anyone else that is still around.  The bad news is that the gala is tomorrow night.

Not the best photo and you can't see the filing cabinet very well.  It looks like the desk.

Everything is so neat & tidy!  Not like my desk, nor Richard's...

ROTFLOL and the complete opposite of my desk.  His desk always looks that good.

Or it could be a whole lot better.  You are in my prayers, my friend.

We are expecting between two and four inches of rain this weekend in Western Washington.   :( :( :(  Oh and in our Cascades, up to eight inches of rain!

I hope it doesn't start tomorrow.  Larry, my sister's boyfriend and I are going up to Everett for "SnoHomo Ho-Down!"  Here's a description:

Quote
This is NOT your Grandma's Bingo!!!  This is non-stop campy fun hosted by the mighty purty "ETHEL!!", a musical comedy performance troupe made up of members of the Seattle Men's Chorus.  The only thing bigger than their talent is their hair!  Come join us for the fun and win big cash prizes in a fun and safe environment!  This is a non-alcoholic event, but don't let that discourage you.  There's plenty of trash-talk and festive live performance to keep you in the party mood. This time the theme is "SnoHomo Ho-Down!" so grab your boots 'n spurs and WIN WIN WIN!  Organized and run by volunteers, all proceeds from this event benefit GLOBE (GLBTQ Youth Support Group) and APSC (Aids Project Snohomish County.)

Sounds like it'll be a hoot! :D

George's library is indeed famous tonight.  They appeared on all of the local newscasts, but I never saw George.  Oh well, there is still the 10:00 O'clock News on Channel 13!

I missed the Channel 13 report.  Here's one from Kiro TV and here's one from Komo News.  One very good reason I'm glad that I don't work with the public. :-\

From DR Chas:
Quote
I like flannel sheets just about any time.  But of course more in the cold seasons.

I used to feel that way until I discovered super soft, high quality, cotton sheets.  Now I'm spoiled.

I hate flannel sheets.  They make me feel like i am in the middle of a pajama sandwich!

I don't mind flannel, especially when it's cold out, but what I really don't like is fleece.  It's polyester and I don't like the feel on my skin. :P

It's nice to have been asked, but why did they have to wait until the absolute last minute??

Congratulations to our 2 authors.

DR Ben, we have 3 authors! I'm adding  our very own BK, whose Kritzerland trilogy is high on my list of favorite books, and whose facility leaves my intentions of writing something in the dust.  One of these days I'll do that BABES IN TOYLAND history and HHW will have 3.5 authors!

You don't have to do a book on BABES IN TOYLAND (unless you want to).  You have already contributed so much to the Music World with your orchestrations.  Look at all your work on BK's CDs, not to mention the incredible and outstanding work on Victor Herbert.  I love the Herbert CDs that you are responsible for giving back to the world.  I can hardly wait for the next two releases.

As a matter of fact, it will be Victor Herbert I will be listening to, all day tomorrow, while I try to figure out what the Hell I am going to say at this Gala tomorrow night.
