And I have returned from physcal therapy.  As is always the case, I left feeling better emotionally than when I went in.  I doubt I'll see any physical improvement for at least a day. It's progressing well, but too slowly.

I had no idea I had an orchard.  I am my own orchard.

Reminds me of that Cole Porter lyric in "You've Got That Thing":

You've got what Adam craved when he
With love for Eve was tortured
She only had an apple tree
But you, you've got an orchard

I love Dorothy Provine's version of this song!!!  It's a kick!

I am not a whistler either....now and then I can get a note out.....but it is not recognizable as anything but noise.

DR Elmore, you seem to be experiencing what I did in cardiac rehab.  The mind/body connection is so strong!  Vibes for continued improvement!  See you in 6 weeks!

The trouble with whistlers, in general, is that their whistling generally seems mindless.  They just whistle something erratic with no tune.  No melody.  Many I've heard whistle because they can, not because they should because -- frankly -- they should not.   It's like singing.  You should have a reason to sing and the song should have a beginning and an ending.

If you've ever worked in an office that required any thinking on your part and someone was an idle whistler, then you'd understand the concept of someone stepping on your last nerve.  It's like the "American Idol" auditions with one too many William Hungs trying to sing.  It's an out-of-body "ear worm".

Of course, there are people who can whistle.  One should not encourage them, however.

:)

I whistle badly (not much of a range) every now and again.  When I catch myself doing it, I wonder how distracting I've been to others.  Then I give myself a good bitchslap and proceed noiselessly through my day!

No one wants to hear me whistle.  That's why they always tell me to stop that off-key caterwauling.  Always.

Well, the Heights is closed.  It was a great run, and if I wait a few days, the urge to wax poetic about the process will go away and perhaps be saved for the memoirs.

I'm looking at going to see 1776 at ACT in SF on Wednesday, and then Beautiful the new Carole King musical in the next few weeks.  I hear it's really good.  Also up on the theatre viewing agenda will be the first (of many I would be scared to say) community theatre production of Les Miserables in the area.  That will be on Sunday.  I hope to survive this viewing.

I can't whistle, and what I produce when I believe I'm whistling only irritates people.

I'd guess the only good whistling I've ever heard has been on recordings.

I have yet to produce anything resembling a whistle, myself.  I envy those who can really produce a sound, AND get a good tune out.

I believe, DR George, you're thinking of the meaning of hairy palms.

The random on iTunes has just turned up Barbara Cook singing "Give a Little Whistle" from "Pinocchio." Wonderful song and the joy she infuses into it is infectious. Just what this day needed.

Thanks, Jack,  Sharry was, of course, in on the line before I used it.  She is the only person I know that was actually in the cast of OUR AMERICAN COUSIN at Ford's Theatre.

How strange is that?  A vegetarian badmouthing vegetables!

Hmmm, and how often do you actually have vegetables in a little side salad?  Usually there is only a little bit of grated carrots and some tomatoes which are fruit.  Now a spinach salad is different but they are rarely side salads.

You could always have oil and vinegar.

True, but it still is on top of a boring little salad-lol
