Speaking of acting, I am helping the India-US group (of which I am a member) with the upcoming Diwali celebration. I was asked to consider playing Lord Vishnu in a little play for the event. I told them that was not going to happen. LOL! Besides being a terrible actor, I would never be able to remember my lines.

Although the idea of dressing up as a god did appeal to me.

Here's a thought:  Portray the god, but have someone offstage read your lines for you.

It's funny, but I've never thought of donuts or cupcakes or cake as pastries.

Correct.  They are not.

All right, which ASSOILS started talking about donuts and cupcakes!?  I want names!     :)

He's talking now DR ELMORE.

Well, I missed it! The laundry is in the dryers, though.

I'd planned to drive to Wales tomorrow to visit my sister but my car won't now be ready from servicing until tomorrow - there was a backlog and I don't think they've even started work on it. I'll now have to travel on Thursday instead.

Been doing Sandy stuff - they're about to send out a blast but I really hated the text so I spent an hour revising it.

Greetings, all!

Survived the closing, packing and moving home, so back to the land of the living. The good news is, the artistic director opened up a conversation with me about out disastrous director, and other than one show he is already contracted for, this faux director is done there. Lordy, what a mess he made.

TOD: My favorite pastry were always the Bear Claws, those almond-paste-filled delights with a light frosting on the top. Yummm!

I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.

Are you meeting your Barbra friends that we met a couple of years ago?

Yes!  Well, one of them is a Barbra friend.

Well, I'm happy to say that luckily my department has funding, so I'll be paid for my vacation.  I have a friend at the Dept. of Education who is not so lucky.  The general feeling is that the employees will not be paid for the days furloughed, unlike in 1996.

Good morning, all! Because I could not sleep well last night - most of the problem was allergy - I slept in this morning. At 8:30 I forced myself to get up in case Susanna Moross Tarjan had scheduled a conference call between me, her, and her website person (http://www.moross.com) about THE GOLDEN APPLE. No email, so that means it won't be this morning.

I went to the Moross website and clicked on the link of Martin Bashir's tribute to Jerome Moross.  He (Bashir) shows/plays a clip of Sarah Vaughan supposedly singing "Lazy Afternoon," but there was no Sarah singing...they obviously had to replace the music!  So, here's a link of Sarah Vaughan singing the song, and here's a link of Kaye Ballard from the original cast recording. :)

TOD:  I love crème-filled patstries...my fav, the chocolate éclair.

BK, to answer you from last night.  Brett is my favourite Sherlock Holmes.  By far the most accurate and the most dangerous.  He was not afraid to make Holmes thoroughly disagreeable and dislikeable at times, which he could be.  The latter entries in some of the series get a bit rocky where they've tried to pad out rather slender stories and where Jeremy was ill and on medication that bloated him up.  But for the most part this is the best Holmes incarnation ever in terms of faithfully adapting the original Conan Doyle character and tales to the screen.

I'll look forward to the Brett Sherlock series - have to find out the broadcast order, as that's how I'd like to view.

favorite pastry is "French" Eclair & Mille-feuille (Which translates as 1000 Flakes) and not sure what the English name is. A picture below

This looks delicious.  There was a little French restaurant in L.A. that had stars in the ceiling, a handsome French waiter, excellent food and the best Napoleons.

For BK and anyone else interested in cream horns.  These are made by Middletown's Central Pastry and I vaguely remember how delicious they are.  Don't go to CP much anymore...

I would not like this, too much cream for me.
