Pretty platter DR John.

Thanks. It's from the local Culinary Institute of American bakery.

TOD:

My favorite pastries could be the chocolate-dripped baklava at a Greek bakery in Tarpon Springs, Fla., or my Black Forest Tiramisu with soaked cherries and chocolate shavings added to the mascarpone and ladyfingers.

Just watched the first act of Book of Mormon on a fairly good bootleg and haven't laughed once. I find this surprising because I love South Park. I just find this forced. And the score is not as bad as it is on the album. But it's nothing more than aural wallpaper.

Made a weird dish tonight: a raw, vegan "fried rice" with cauliflower, a raw soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic. It looks like fried rice, especially when you stir in scallions and top it all with raw sesame seeds. It just doesn't taste like fried rice.

Had a fun first rehearsal with most of the cast, about which more later.  One cast member has to come tomorrow - John Sloman and our guest star, Terri White isn't with us until Friday.  And I got a very sweet e-mail from David Shire who is sad he can't be there for the show, but is just too busy with work and family to make the trip.  He's going to write something for me to read there, and hopes we can Skype or iChat him in while the show's going on - I don't think we'll probably do that, but I will have someone tape a few numbers so he can see them.

Toby is finally out of the pet hospital.  It was wonderful to hear his little bark around the house again.

Tonight's double feature was HOUSE OF WAX on 3-D Blu-ray (lots of fun) and THE SHUTTERED ROOM on DVD.

I cannot say what my first pastry was

Napoleons are wonderful and cheese danish  and lemon meringue pie, and saskatoon berry pie and chocolate croissants (when they are warm and fresh) and pumpkin pie  and apple pie

I'm off to New York, New York--meeting friends from California.

Are you meeting your Barbra friends that we met a couple of years ago?

Yes!  Well, one of them is a Barbra friend.

I remember when it was a friend of Judy

i've decided to give up eating bread, rice and pasta. It has been difficult since many of the frozen meals have rice or some form of pasta in them. Been doing WW since april and have almost lost 35lbs. Hoping that removing wheat from my diet will help with the weight loss. I l love to eat bread and so far that's the most difficult one to give up.

I don't believe any of that malarky about cutting out bread and rice and pasta - you just have to eat small amounts and not overdo it.  They're no worse than anything else, and are calorically speaking better than a lot of stuff.  I have lost close to forty pounds and I have never once stopped bread, rice (I don't eat a lot of rice anyway) or pasta.

Finessed the mix, edited together those tracks that needed it and solved a puzzling mystery and this very short score, that we've been mucking about with since JUNE is finally finished.

I'm running a little late, so it's theater time.  Tonight, it won't be a big deal to be later rather than earlier (I'll certainly get there before the run starts), because all I'm doing right now is setting off the snow video and that only happens maybe eight times in the first act, and then it's done...no more for the rest of the show.  Hopefully, David will have all his sound cues built and set by tomorrow (our invited dress rehearsal), but they have to be done by Friday at the latest.  That's when we officially open and have a real paying audience.

Be back later!

We had a good run-through tonight.  David hasn't finished building all the sound cues, so he'll be there again tomorrow.  For some reason, I was thinking that today was Wednesday.  What's that all about?  Tomorrow (the real Wednesday) is just our final dress without an audience and Thursday is the actual final dress with the invited audience.
