Wife Sandy is undergoing another back surgery tomorrow morning; this time to implant a wire in her spine and a battery pack under her skin.  Hopefully, with the use of a remote device, this will reduce her constant back pain.

Vibes and prayers are appreciated.

You got 'em.

First of all, I want to apologize to all of you

You don't need to apologize.

Those desserts that DR JohnG posted a photo of last night, are making me very hungry this morning.

They're available here in San Antonio. Whenever you want them.

I'm at the car service place waiting, waiting and waiting for my car. Fortunately they provide free wi fi to keep me occupied.

I love free wi-fi.

Re the notes - I'm not sure what sundried projects are unless they are those very tasty tomatoes. Shouldn't it read sundry projects?

No, sundried is exactly what I mean - it's been a running thing here since the beginning - it just amuses me in some way.  Sundried as in tomatoes - that's what sundried projects are.

ASK BK #1

What were your most challenging remastering/remixing of soundtrack/cast recordings?

For reissues, I don't know that I'd use the word challenging, but we did major work on Promises, Follies and Sugar - those were all time-consuming and I was maniacal about each.  A Place in the Sun was very challenging for the fellow who fixed it - a year ago it was not something that could ever be released, but then the technology and Chris Malone's using of it finally made it work.

ASK BK #2

After FOLLIES you mentioned that you were looking at some other CAPITOL cast recordings to remix. Where are you with those shows?

The entire licensing department was dismissed and so at this point other Capitol reissues won't be happening.

I disagree with BK. I think that removing bread, rice and pasta from your diet (huge carbs) will allow a person to lose weight much more easily.  Obviously if you eat junk food and tons of desserts instead it might not help.  But in my experience less carbs = a much easier time losing weight.  I also think that eating healthier foods (lots of fruits and vegetables) is a big factor as well.

You can choose BK's route and do a certain amount of calories for sure. But much easier the above way (not that it is easy to cut out those foods - it's hard).

I did the carbs diet - it's called the Atkins Diet - and while I did lose the initial weight more quickly, I felt terrible and ultimately realized that one had to live their entire life using that diet because if one didn't, the weight came back so quickly it wasn't even funny.  So, not for me.

DR TCB, you have every right to feel down, have a few moments of self-pity, or whatever...health problems ARE a downer, especially chronic ones!!

Regardless of whether your health issue(s) feel like they will never get better, or even if you know that they will in time get better...there are times that a person just feels helpless, sad, bitter, angry, or just plain uncomfortable and/or in pain.

You know we are all here with you and for you! Many hugs and vibes to you!

DR BK,

How do you stay so motivated and disciplined to jog every day and count calories?

Because I was starting to look like Kate Smith.

Oh, and I'm up.  I was up at eight thanks to cement mixing trucks doing their dirty work on about five monstrosities being built in our quaint neighborhood, fell back asleep at nine and was awakened by the doorbell at ten - the gas company here to read the meter.

BK, my question of the day is:

Do you have any plans at the moment to release more vintage B movie soundtracks?

And, for BK and anyone else, if you could release any of your favorite B movie soundtracks, what would those be (just assume any score released would be available and profitable)?

For me, BK has already released my most wanted which was ATTACK OF THE PUPPET PEOPLE (even though it was not the entire thing, what was there was fantastic!)

Others that I would enjoy would be a lot of the music from 1940s/50s Universal B films...horror, drama, and sci fi.

Or since you are doing Shire/Maltby

I hear bells
In the autumn night
Distant bells that no one hears

I love this song!  When I was doing a vocal workshop about 10-15 years ago, I transcribed the women's parts so that I could do it like the recording.  The songbook only had the solo line.  It's much more interesting with the bongs in the background. :)

Just notice I recently passed 11,000 posts. Not a lot compared to some of our other DR. But this is a count from a second go around. At one point our posting count was reset and we had to start from fresh

Congrats on your semi-plateau, Mike!

I just noticed or I would have mentioned it earlier to Michel Shayne; it's "I hear bells in the summer night."

And what a great song!  I arranged it around 1990 for the New York City Gay Men's Chorus on this album:

A political statement but I don't care

"Can I burn down your house?

No

Just the 2nd floor?

No

Garage?

No

Let's talk about what I can burn down.

No

YOU AREN'T COMPROMISING!"

I'll usually have been up for over three hours by then! But then, I go to bed quite early.
