NOW I am somewhat satisfied with the service provided ... but WHY did it have to take  nearly a half hour and WHY did I have to raise my voice?!

Mike Barnum, it's too bad I am not in your neck of the woods because I am now in full scale  "Take no prisoners"  mode... I bet if I got your locale manager in front of me right now not only would you be allowed food heating ability,  he would also be serving the dang food!!!

Today, nothing quite happened as planned.  Not a horrible day, but not great like I wanted.  Didn't, for instance, get my afternoon to listen to DEAREST ENEMY.  If all goes well, then tomorrow.

Vixdad has been known to beg service people "Please, please  be reasonable and assist me in this matter or I will be forced to give the phone to my wife, and then  nobody  will ever be happy again"

When we were in the West Edmonton mall with the 2 year old Vixter there was a booth that rented umbrella strollers -  the guy wanted me to give him $25 (granted it was Canadian  money back when it was 57 cents to the US dollar) but nonetheless $25 for a 4 hour rental - for a used umbrella stoller-

I said do you think I am stupid?  This is the world's biggest mall -  I'll go buy a  new one for $20  - where's the Hudson Bay company store?! This is a complete ripoff!

he sold me one for $10

I used it for 3 years

We have come upon a huge glitch in our India/US group's upcoming Diwali festival. At the meeting last night we discovered that, while we are having the event catered, we are not allowed to use an sort of heating devices to keep the food warm at the arena (a large school gym) we are having the shindig at!!

This is supposed to be a very fancy event that people are buying tickets for and the last thing we want is to serve people cold food.

And the worst part of all this is that I am the head of the food committee for the event!

Good luck!  Hopefully, it can all get straightened out!

Why don't they want you to use heating devices? Makes no sense. Do they want all the food to be cold when served?

According to the school it is something regarding the Fire Marshal.

Maybe you should call the fire marshal and ask if there are any sorts of heating that could be used there.  Maybe he's just talking open flames, sterno or other burners.  He may be able to give you the ok.  It might be worth a try

When the space was rented  didn't they know it was for a food festival?

A youtube recommendation came up for the late, great, really missed Dorothy Loudon singing "Fifty Percent" from the musical Ballroom.

I cannot get the performance out of my head for the last couple of days.

This is truly an example how to put over a song full of emotion and telling the story. A master class unto itself. Broadway performers today can learn from her that "less is more".

I remember that Miss Loudon was supposed to do BK's Jeepers Creepers cd (which needs to be re-released) but she was very ill at the time and would pass away two months later.

Here is the link to the performance which was performed at Carnegie Hall. She received the longest applause that evening.

I totally agree with you, Mike.  Incredible performance.

Speaking of zombies, I finally have watched SHAUN OF THE DEAD, thanks to a co-worker who loaned me her DVD. Very funny movie!

Yes. I may have to get that before Halloween. Loved it.

Have you also seen TUCKER AND DALE VS. EVIL? It is another excellently done horror film spoof. I never laughed so hard!

Tonight's performance of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" went fairly well.  I goobered on a couple of sound cues...I must admit that I wasn't paying attention at one point. ::) They were minor goobers, so it wasn't horrible.

Otherwise, the show went well, but the audience wasn't as into it as previous audiences.  I don't know what was wrong with them.

After the show, I wanted to go to Panera Bread for some dinner.  I got an e-mail from them recently about a new rigatoni, which looked pretty good in the picture in the e-mail.  They used to close at 10:00, and since it was only about 9:10, I assumed that they would still be open.  The now close at 9:00. :(

So, I just went across the parking lot to The Outback.  I actually hadn't gone there since they opened many years ago.  I had their aged cheddar and bacon burger.  It was delish.  I also had their cake pops for dessert (they have three different kinds and yes, I had all three).  OMG!  Are those good!  I will definitely go back just for those.

After the matinee, I have about two and a half hours before I have to go back to the Washington Center for the Performing Arts (where TLtWatW plays) so that I can work concessions for the evening show (whatever it is...I forget) on the main stage.

My friend Margo is ushering for that evening show, so we're going to go out for dinner after that.  Maybe I'll talk her into going back to The Outback.  I don't think she's gone there in a long time, either.
