DR Jane, your hiking group was very fortunate. Whenever something like that happens in a movie, everyone gets eaten my a monster of some sort.

Or worse.

(What was that Gus Van Sant movie about the two guys getting lost in the most IMPROBABLE-to-get-lost-in landscapes ever?)

I always find the shaker top on the jar of whole bay leaves so helpful, don't you?

And the laundromat is packed tray. Usually Friday afternoons are quiet. In 45 minutes I'll go back and bring it home.

Oh good lord.

But what I really hate are the things that SHOULD have shaker tops, and don't.  And things like salad dressings that should have easy-to-squeeze-a-portion tops, and don't.

Anthony has started doing the laundry on Thursday to avoid the Friday crowds at the laundry.

I don't need fireworks,
Don't need parades,
I don't need choirs singing,
Or bells ringing.

I don't need shouts of elation,
And I don't need a show.

SIMPLY,  tell it to me SIMPLY.
Say it to me SIMPLY,
Then I'll know.

I have listened to SIMPLY ABOUT 7 TIMES.  I LOVE IT!
Sandy B. is a talented singer and simply gorgeous!

Best song on the Album.  And of course our own BK wrote it.

BK, I have yet to see EYES WITHOUT A FACE, but I always hear such good things about it.

I do recall reading a very nice interview with the film's star, Edith Scob, in VideoWatchdog magazine a few years back.

Larry got a very nice notice by Peter Filichia in his column today

"The ‘20s? Rodgers and Hart’s DEAREST ENEMY opened in 1925, long before original Broadway cast albums became realities. Now, 88 eighty-eight years later, we finally have a recording of the entire score. Marvelous as it is (especially when Kim Criswell sings), don’t miss the enthralling 11 pages of notes by Larry Moore, credited with “reconstruction and additional orchestrations,” and historian Sean O’Donoghue. They let you know what a miracle this two-disc set is."

That's what I'll be listening to today!

I'm up, I'm up and have been since ten, answering e-mails and prepping the release announcement, which is now done.  I won't eat till this afternoon and I won't jog till after that.

Nice photographs of Sandy's show.  Here's a little something from Stu Hamstra's cabaret newsletter - he's doing a full review that should appear this weekend, but here's what the tenor of it will be:

And speaking of the METROPOLITAN ROOM, I was there last night to catch Sandy Bainum's fantastic Ira Gershwin tribute show. Written and directed by Bruce Kimmel, this was a show to remember! Glorious arrangements by Lanny Meyers and incomparable vocals by Ms Bainum made this show a shining example of how great cabaret can be! I'll have a review on the website shortly.

Nice tidbit of a review!

The laundry is finished and so am I. After standing and folding, I got into the building just in time. By the time I got to my floor, the left foot was screaming no more weight!

I think my walking is over for the day.

Peanut butter frosting with house-made cookie dough and Dandies marshmallows. Too much?

Nice.  Back in the early '70s, I tried to transcribe that from the London recording (Hitchcock Thrillers).  There were a few little tidbits I didn't get right, and I'm not sure I completed it, but what I got was pretty close.  Did the North by Northwest main title music, too.  And part of Vertigo.  I think I still have those silly sketches laying around here somewhere.

Is the whole score available arranged for piano?  I've got (ahem) the full string orchestra score.

From the nose, I think.   Still, I wouldn't want to be the one going in for a sex check on it.
