I made up a recipe for Southern Tea Cakes and then made the mistake of baking them this afternoon. Just a touch of nutmeg in the batter and, man, those are not what I need to be eating.

Here Comes Mr. Jordan is okay, but Heaven Can Wait is in a whole other league in just about every way.  It's one of the best movies of the 1970s, and was a huge hit, nominated for many Oscars and the audience reaction back then was beyond belief - just the loudest and longest laughs and then tears at the end.  People went over and over again.

I think "Here Comes Mr. Jordan" is a wonderful movie and charming.  Because it isn't as funny as "Heaven Can Wait" I think it should be seen first.

Overall, HEAVEN CAN WAIT is probably a better picture, but I love James Gleason's performance in the original.

You know, the only Charles Grodin film I can remember seeing is the 1976 version of KING KONG.

You never saw "Dave"?

DR elmore are you referring to the current Mrs. Prine?

I met Andrew a couple of times when I was in high school.  He was very nice.

Yes. I believe she's still married to him.  She was a high school senior in 1968 and she played Kim in a summer theatre production of BYE BYE BIRDIE.

Andrew Prine's marriages:

Spouse

Heather Lowe  (14 February 1986 - present)
Brenda Scott  (19 August 1973 - 19 October 1978) (divorced)
Brenda Scott (6 April 1968 - 24 March 1969) (divorced)
Brenda Scott  (28 December 1965 - 1966) (divorced)
Sharon Farrell  (24 March 1962 - June 1962) (annulled)

After Ms. Farrell, Prine gained notoriety as "boyfriend of record" when actress Karyn Kupcinet (daughter of columnist Irv Kupcinet) was found strangled to death in her West Hollywood apartment.  He, along with another man Kupcinet had dated, was questioned by police.   The case was never solved.  Irv Kupcinet believed he knew the identity of the murderer but could never prove it.

At the time, it was considered murder because her hyoid bone was broken.  On the other hand, she was known to be strung out on some pills and had written something that read like she was tired of living.   That led to speculation that her hyoid may have been broken in a fall.  The Kupcinets vehemently denied the possibility and always considered it a murder.

When that murder took place, I was living in an apartment at Fountain and Sweetzer, 1/2 block away from the murder site.  I used to walk by that apartment building quite often.

I lived two blocks south and one over on N. Kings Rd., DR Druxy.  But that was in the late '80s.

Also in that neighborhood, in 1976 I was in a friend's apartment across the street from Sal Mineo's on the night he was murdered.  We knew nothing about it, but saw the police doing their thing as I left late that night.

You are correct.  What I read was a bit confusing as it linked her murder to speculation that she died because she knew something about the assassination of President Kennedy.  Irv refuted that saying she didn't know the assassin.

It really is a sad story.  Reading it I felt sorry for her father.  Reading the note left behind it sounded like a suicide note. I have to wonder why Prine would even have gone to see her after everything she was doing to him.

I've decided to watch the new Criterion edition of I MARRIED A WITCH.  The notes on the film are by an author suffering from terminal cuteness, and I found them embarrassing to read.  TheCriterion editors should have slapped some sense into him.

That's a very odd combination of people...knowing them now.  I was just imagining what it would be like if they had a reunion performance.

I had an hour hot stone massage. she did some trigger point deep tissue treatment. Man! Can I feel the difference.  I had an adjustment, too, but I'm doing a lot better in that department.   Not going back for another massage until next Thursday.   It will only be 30 minutes.  I can tell I'm getting better.

Envious of the massage (not the reason for it).
