For a vegan you sure love pictures of forbidden food!

Food porn...it's a real addiction. ;) It's like Arm Porn...only with food.

Yes DR GEORGE indeed it is always nice to be asked.

DR JOHN G - my only problem is that the rehearsals and performances are in January.....and I am NOT a good snow driver....and DePauw is a good 35 miles away.....so I am considering my chances.....

Rehearsals start on January 2 and the last performance is January 26 - so it's a pretty quick process.

Excellent, DR George.  That means mine might get here tomorrow, but more likely Saturday.  Unless DR Jrand63 got his, too, in which case very likely tomorrow.

What did arrive today was DR Elmore's Jay recording of the complete GUYS AND DOLLS.  I can't wait to hear this, but probably will not have the required Quality Alone Time till tomorrow!

And I made a nice killing on some Criterions -- I Married a Witch, Eyes Without a Face, The Uninvited, and a few Eclipse sets of Ozu and Fassbinder, neither of which I really know, but a few people I trust on these matters have said I'll enjoy getting to know them.

Ozu may be my favorite director. Tokyo Story is one of my top five films of all time.

Got that one on my list, too, DR John G.  Criterion Blu-ray release date is November 19th.

My evil sister-in-law Lady Macbeth is now on Facebook, but I'll never "friend" her. I was just looking at her homepage and I was amazed: it's mostly photos of food and recipes and she doesn't cook! Macbeth does; she's too busy with coven sessions, changing people to stone, and ruining the weather.

That's funny that she doesn't cook.  She must give the recipes to Macbeth.

TOD - Growing up in Detroit, I was supposed to like Vernor's Ginger Ale, but I didn't don't.  Guess that's because I'm not a native...

I don't like Vernor's either.  Almost across the street from our second Michigan home was a beautiful large home built by the Vernor family.

TOD:

The earliest soft drink I remember is Coca Cola (original "original" forumla).  I can reinforce this by relating that as a child of 3 or 4, I spied what I thought to be a glass of coke on a kitchen counter.  I pulled up a chair, took the glass and downed it.

It was bourbon.  My mother said I screamed bloody murder.

Planning for the Diwali event this Saturday is coming along....but holy cow, there is a lot of preparation for such an event!

I did get permission from the Fire Marshal for the buffet issue, so we no longer have to worry about food being cold.

And, so far we have sold over 350 tickets! That is a lot more than we had expected!

This has all been keeping me very busy the last two weeks or so. I will be relieved when it is over.

It sounds exciting and congrats on getting the buffet issue taken care of.

And I am home from physical therapy and a very miserable trip to the Walgreens at 95th and Broadway. I am also sick today of privileged stupid ass parents who take the seats reserved for the halt, lame and maimed with their precious progeny when there are plenty of other seats on the goddamned bus. I experienced this phenomenon on all four buses I had to ride today.

On more fun news, E&T DR PennyO is in Manhattan today and we will have lunch tomorrow.

Are these seats specifically marked?  Either way have you requested they give you the seat?

Have fun with Penny :)

Thanks for the event vibes. It will be a learning experience for all of us, as the group in its 33 years has never put on this big of a to do...and it is the first time they have charged for an event. We are all just mostly worried about people being disappointed in our efforts. Of course, the tickets are only $10 which is pretty darn cheap for dinner and 3 hours of cultural entertainment.

That is a good price, no wonder you sold so many.

Came up with two alternate show orders and shall be on my way to rehearsal shortly.  I think we'll try the one act version this evening, just to see how it feels.

Mexican Fresca, made with sugar, is just as good, but I read yesterday that they're going to stop using sugar and start using corn syrup in Mexican sodas. Guess I'll give them up for good, except for a ginger beer on occasion as a mixer.

No way!!  Are you ******* kidding me??

Nope. The link below is related. It's about what's called "Mexicoke" which is available in many Spanish bodegas in New York City. It's Coke made with sugar, not corn syrup. The bottlers are planning to change all the soda products in Mexico due to (as you can see if you read the blog post) a Bloomberg-style "fat tax".

Mexicoke

Ben---I saw a little blurb in today's "Express" (a free paper put out by The Washington Post) that the Coke sent to the US will not be affected.

I used to drink Coke and Pepsi but haven't for probably 35 years.  I used to also love Canada Dry Ginger Ale, but mostly gave that up too.

TOD:

Wink was always my favorite soda with its crisp grapefruit flavor. Canada Dry bought it up and years later stopped making it.

I remember Wink too!
