Employment vibes for DR MIKE.....I think many of us have been in that situation.  Of course those who want to change everything should take a lesson from the recent JCPENNEY debacle.

This article talks about it a bit.  But it doesn't mention the most egregious mistake in the 'makeover'. Johnson got rid of the cash registers, and customers had to find a salesperson who then used a pocket scanner and card swiper to pay for their merchandise.  Cash customers were left out in the cold trying to find someone who could help them.  JCPENNEY is NOT Apple....and it isn't JCPENNEY anymore either, even though they got rid of the geniuses!

Debating on whether to drive in or take the train.

I am planning to drive in  there was 12 hour coupon available on the ICON parking site for $24 over at 66th and Bdway

That garage is usually the best bet around Lincoln Center.  I've got a couple for $20 & $22 on 89th and 90th Streets, so I'll try those today.

Do you use nycbestparking.com ?

Of course, back in the good old days, I'd drive around a few blocks and score a great street parking space.  Haven't tried that on the Upper West Side for a while.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Today is Richard's birthday and we're looking forward to seeing PIPPIN afternoon before partying at Artie's.  Safe travels to DRs Vixmom and ChasSmith as they make their way into The City!

Now, about yesterday:  we had a New York "first" that we didn't plan - a trip to the ER at Presbyterian Hospital.  We left the apt about noon, took the bus down to 42nd, and walked to the Drama Book Store.  From there we walked to the Belasco to try to get TWELFTH NIGHT tix.  It was almost our turn at the window when my nose began to bleed profusely and would not stop.  Richard went to get a taxi, whose driver picked the hospital and we arrived there about 2:45.  It was a zoo, but I was treated well by all the nurses and Drs. Bender and Caldwell.  We left there about 7 armed with a basin and lots of gauze, and things have finally calmed down.  Damn blood thinners!

Needless to say, we do not have TWELFTH NIGHT tickets and we missed Fr. Jake's ordination.

Ginny, Wow!!!

Presbyterian was a good choice. All the ERs are usually always crowded. There are not many urgent care facilities in Midtown which might have been a good other choice.

Glad to hear we're still on for this evening.

DR Ginny, holy moley!!!  Glad to hear you're all right!  But too bad you had to miss those things!

In addition to blood thinners, I wonder if these extremes of heat and cold air can aggravate something like that.

Yes, DR ChasSmith, our apartment is very dry and we had just walked about 20 minutes in the cold.  I've decided to cover my nose when we're outside.

There's a 6pm reservation at Artie's under PALMER.  There should be at least 8 of us, so we should qualify for the big table.  We will proceed directly from the Music Box, but don't expect to be away from there much before 5:15.  PIPPIN doesn't start until 2:30 - isn't that unusual for matinees?

Yes, meant to add:  DRY heat and DRY cold.  That will cause minor annual nosebleeds even for people not on thinners.

I am home from physical therapy.

DR Ginny, since you ponder living in Manhattan, i guess the universe s giving you all the great things abut living here.

Around 15 years ago, i was copying orchestra parts to be shipped to LA for some Kimmel project and my nose erupted; I was trying to stop the bleeding with tissues provided by the xerox place clerk and copy with the other hand. The clerk told me I might need an iron supplement, as I recall.  I haven't had a nose bleed since.

The Belasco box office clerk was very generous with tissues, but she kept telling me to put me head back, which Paramedic Rob told me is absolutely NOT what you should do.

We are off to the theatre district!

DR Jane, have you read the Nadia Stafford series by Kelley Armstrong? The first two books came out a while ago (the first book in 2007). But she just wrote the 3rd book and it is coming out this month.  She usually writes paranormal. But this series is crime (I loved it).

The first book is 99 cents until Nov 24th. This is the link for B&N. But it's the same price at amazon.

What's all this fuss about Val Kilmer's knees?

I know he's put on a few pounds and they're a bit more dimpled and top-heavy than when he was in his prime.

Still...?
