I got some new pjs at Costco.Love getting pjs there. Unfortunately I won't get them until Channukah which is on the 28th of Nov. Same as US Thanksgiving!

Today, I continued working one of my two part-time jobs. My lovely colleagues at the other job, the church office, gave me a lovely send-off luncheon and Visa gift card.

Now, I'm posting, watching junk TV, and continuing to sort, toss, and pack.

Whew! What a day.

DR Ginny - so very very sorry that I couldn't make DH Richard's birthday party and HHW get together.

Glad that you got good medical attention, and a very Happy Birthday to DH Richard! Glad, also, that you got to enjoy Pippin.

Thank you, DR Singdaw!  We missed you at the party.

Did I beat Vixmom in getting back home?  Both the getting there and back were a breeze tonight, like they should only be more often.

A wonderful get-together, and thank you so much, DR Ginny and DH Richard, and Happy Birthday again!  The birthday rice pudding was delish!

Thank you for all the nosebleed vibes - so far, so good.

DR Jane, the procedure you posted is pretty much it, except I required 20 minutes of steady pressure - twice at the hospital and once after we got home.

It must be terribly frustrating for you.

I liked Artie's, too.  Really nice neighborhood deli, large and comfortable.  I had the Pastrami Reuben, a good way to try two (2) things at once.  :)   My pastrami was lean, with a smokey overtone that was very agreeable.  I think they called theirs "Romanian Pastrami".  And the cole slaw, a simple, coarsely shredded one, but with a nice kick, was just what the doctor ordered.  I believe it was DR Elmore who recommended the rice pudding, and it was the perfect finish.

And I am home from the Richard Palmer birthday festivities at Artie's, which was quite wonderful. There were eight of us: Richard, Ginny, E&T DR Jose, who looks wonderful and seems to be having a great time with the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck? Co.? Store?, and DRs moi, ChasSmith, vixmom, FJL, and Ben. It was quite festive and photos were indeed taken.

Since I live a block from Artie's, I am the first to report back. Drs vixmom and ChasSmith have miles to go before they sleep, and I'm sure Drs Ben, FJL, and Ginny will be checking in soon.

It was indeed a lovely dinner.   Thank you to Ginny and Richard for making this happen!!!

I wish I could have been there with you.

Well, it seems that someone tried to blow up one of our government offices this morning (down towards DR Jane's part of the state).

Fortunately, the explosive malfunctioned and only started a small fire. Reports say it would have taken out the whole building if it had worked. Domestic terrorism is suspected.

It will be interesting to know who the perpatrator was angry with.

Yikes!! :o

DR Jane, have you read the Nadia Stafford series by Kelley Armstrong? The first two books came out a while ago (the first book in 2007). But she just wrote the 3rd book and it is coming out this month.  She usually writes paranormal. But this series is crime (I loved it).

The first book is 99 cents until Nov 24th. This is the link for B&N. But it's the same price at amazon.

For 99 cents I'll give it a try-thanks.
It's sort of odd to write two books and then wait 5 years for book 3.

Earth Children Series:
The Clan of the Cave Bear, 1980
The Valley of Horses, 1982
The Mammoth Hunters, 1985
The Plains of Passage, 1990
The Shelters of Stone, 2002
The Land of Painted Caves, 2011

It was a very long wait for the last three books.

DR Vixmom will have to post the photo, because I only have my iPad and have not figured out how to post photos here without my laptop.

Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series had the same situation:

1.The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger (1982)
2.The Dark Tower II: The Drawing of the Three (1987)
3.The Dark Tower III: The Waste Lands (1991)
4.The Dark Tower IV: Wizard and Glass (1997)
5.The Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla (2003)
6.The Dark Tower VI: Song of Susannah (2004)
7.The Dark Tower VII: The Dark Tower (2004)
8.The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole (2012)

and I'm home!  I would have been home sooner except I was stuck behind a  'wide load" vehicle on Van Dam street, as soon as I got off the 59th street and I was stuck behind the 25 MPH  vehicle until I was able to escape to the northern state parkway at the Nassau Queens border

I stupidly failed to take pictures at the Big Gay Ice Cream Store where I was treated to some delicious soft serve ice cream - chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar cinnamon (like eating a frozen apple pie --- soooooooooo good!) and Brownie Batter... accompanied by some delicious Big Gay Coffee.. just as I thought I was done the owner came upstairs from the kitchen and beckoned me over   and he handed me a cup of vanilla ice cream and ladled on some  hot fudge just hand made  by the one  and only  Jose----that fudge may have been the most delicious  stuff I have ever eaten

then I wandered up to Macy's for some browsing and was captured by a French couple (well they probably weren't a couple - couple) who insisted on giving me a make over -  so I was smeared with 'double serum" and mositurizer by the woman and then painted up by the man  -  they were  most dissappointed when I failed to plunk down $235 for the kit the flogging  (A $600 value!!!) and instead thanked them kindly and wandered away to Arties
