And talk about a late one...

Fell asleep on my movie-watchin' couch, then kept waking and watching bits of movies, and didn't get up to go to bed till 3:40 in the AM. Slept a few hours till some cats insisted on being fed, but I knew I wasn't staying up. No way, no how. Fed 'em (not to be confused with Fed 'ex) and crawled right back under the covers. Accompanied by the usual zany dreams that happen when I sleep really late, I didn't know anything after that until 11:30. Amazing.

The coffee is Starbucks "House Blend" and "Breakfast Blend" in K-cups.

I'm no Starbucks fan, but I'll certainly drink it, and the ubiquity of the chain can be a life saver when you're in an area (like the suburbs of Dallas) where they simply don't know from good coffee.

So I avoided trying their K-cups for the longest time, simply because I had found a few others I liked, and theirs are a bit pricey. But these two are reasonably priced at one of the stores here, so I tried them, and they turned out to be, well, perfect. These people know how to make coffee at a proper strength (hence, life savers), and that knowledge apparently translating into knowing how to pack a good K-cup. I LOVE THESE. There's not even any reason to go back to any of the others. How's that for a corporate conversion, drinking the Kool-Aid, etc.? Look at me, I'm a believer now! Bring it on!

I've had Demy-and-Legrand-ish themes running through my head for what seems like days. Snippets of themes, actually, since I don't know this music all that well. But I was wishing like hell I could see actual scores for UMBRELLAS and YOUNG GIRLS. I should have started by asking if any of you can offer pointers, but I checked a couple of the usual suspicious sites on the internet and was able to talk someone into sending me a PDF of the 1979 stage score to UMBRELLAS. I don't know how complete or faithful it is to the film score, but at first glance it looks to be quite useful and rewarding, so I'm eventually going to have to suck it up and print it out so I can properly enjoy reading it and tinkering with it on the ~~ivories~~ plastics.

Oh man, there is some serious sh weather coming through the midsections of the country this next day or so, from northern Texas all the way to DR Jrand63 and DR Ginny Country. We'll get whatever we get of it sometime this weekend. Every weather site has a different idea of what that's going to consist of, and when. Hi everyone! The computer and Internet are up and running. I cannot find which box has the keyboard, but the on-screen keyboard will suffice for now. Yesterday was the first storm of the season. I am quickly getting up to speed on the arcane rules of street parking during "snow emergencies." The wind chill overnight and tomorrow is expected to be between 10 and 20 below zero.
