Well, you've read the notes, the notes were filled with sound and fury signifying nothing, and now it is time for you to post until the live cows come home.

It's 5 a.m. - and I'm up early.

Dylan's awaiting some surgery today.  it's strange not having him looking for breakfast when I'm up early.

Good morning, all.

You did say early, DR Kerry.

And you could have added an Oy.

Coffee!

Good morning, all! I slept very poorly last night. In a fit of mental confusion, I allowed myself to schedule a paper delivery at Toyland today, knowing that I had a UPS package to sign for here. So, I'm off to Toyland very shortly to wait for paper.

BK, I thought your FB rant was interesting. I saw the poster who was dropping friends, and I was amazed by that as well. I was even more amazed by one musician's continuous superior and smug rants about how awful it all was and his defense that theatre deserved better. Well, it wasn't theatre; it was a television broadcast where all theatrical momentum and pacing were continually ruined by a commercial break. I kept wishing that Walmart would show it with 5 commercial breaks at the max: beginning, end, act break, and one in the middle of each act. But, no, Walmart kept pushing their product, only reminding me that the families they're urging to shop at Walmart would have no holiday if they worked for Walmart!

So, i'm off to Toyland. More later.

I only saw the beginning of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Will have to check the rest out later.  I loved Audra McDonald.  I do like Carrie Underwood. However from what I saw I would say that it's interesting to see someone play the part who has a great voice but no (?) acting experience.

I didn't see THE SOUND OF MUSIC.  Hell, it took me 15-20 years to see Julie Andrews in it.  I can't say it is must-see TV for me.  But I am amazed by the facebook furor over it.   I've seen things like "how dare she even try to emulate Julie Andrews" or "the film was perfect, this shouldn't have been done."  What a load of pretentious umbrage!  Films are remade; plays are re-staged all the time.  If someone thought a specific version of something was "perfect", then they shouldn't watch something that can only diminish their memory or enjoyment of that version.  And if one watched last night only to sneer or complain about it, what a paltry motive to watch anything and what a waste of their evening.

Cilla I knew you were teasing.  I'm just reading my books a they become available and will see what happens.  The books I'm expecting from the library are far from short.

At least on the route  that I traveled, driving across the country with the Dear Dog, who was a mighty good sport about the whole thing, the farms in Wisconsin were the most picturesque - at least, that I saw.

On the other hand, Wisconsin also had the highway-side "Quaker Steak and Lube." Of which I did not avail myself.

  • Dance, if it makes you happy.

Good morning, all.

I guess I'm not friends on facebook with enough show queens or I've been able to ignore their comments most effectively. I will wait for DR George to provide my Sound of Music.

In the meantime, I did watch the rest of Gatsby (blech) and listen to the director's notes on Planet Terror last night.

It's taken a while to connect this morning and I just got an error message trying to post. Hope I'm alone in this.

TOD:

Wish I had Gun Crazy. Love that opening, especially.

Mud and Killer Joe, but I don't know if I'll have time to watch either.

Friday morning greetings!  As predicted, freezing rain has been falling since the wee hours of the morning and Richard's car, parked in the driveway, is encased in ice.  There's supposed to be a change-over to snow during the day, so we're in for the duration.

WE had lots of snow last night and more predicted for today.....we shall see.

It was very powdery, so it wasn't too difficult to shovel the walk and the driveway.  Then I shoveled a path for the dog on the deck and in the backyard.  And that's all!
