perhaps  I am a grinch or just poor but I cannot imagine spending $15,000.00 for a dog

It's not really for the dog.  It's a charity that raises money and buys toys for families who can't afford them for their kids at Christmas.   The dog auction is just a small part of their fundraising efforts and they've been doing it for 78 years.   They raise over $100,000.00 every year and spend it on toys for kids. People can apply for the toys or I think you can send in the info for someone.  They are starting to hand them out tomorrow to parents/ whoever so the kids can get them from Santa at Christmas.   It's a really cool charity.   So the donation is really to the charity, it's just if you donate your big bucks at the auction, you get the dog

I spent the last couple of days at a wildlife preserve. The geese and cranes have learned to tease the photographers by staying in the middle of the very big fields.

Isn't that just like a gaggle of geese? :)

Got some work done today, just not on the book. But I also got to watch "Bishop's Wife," half of "White Christmas" and "Holiday Inn" today.

Yeah it is.  Lots of people come to the auction and give their donations. They announce a lot of them on the radio even if they are only $20.  The auctioneer is really funny.  I think it's pretty much decided ahead of time who is going to win, but I don't think that's always the case.  The daughter of the woman who got Snickers was carrying him around for about half of the auction.   He really seemed to like her a lot

Thanks Ginny, both the little yellow dog and the pioneer village were fun events.  Tomorrow is our AACB Christmas concert.   Lots of flute playing this weekend, but after tomorrow, our next rehearsal isn't until January 8 so I can get my Christmas shopping done and see some movies

I also want to see Philomena, The Book Thief, and I think there were a couple more.   I'm hoping to go in the evening this coming week.

Back from tonight's gala opening, which was anything but.  I'm not one of these people who think there are really bad audiences - because even thought they might not be as vocal you can really tell they're having a good time and usually the applause at the end proves that to be correct.  But tonight's sold out crowd was just about the worst audience I've ever had the displeasure to sit with.  Some read their programs throughout the entire show, some probably couldn't hear anything, some just sat there like lumps of fish, and not one number got a laugh, even the laughs that cannot fail.  I hated them, each and every one, save for the four people I knew and just wanted to tell them to stay home if they don't want to be entertained by a hard-working cast, who did not let the awful energy in the air hurt their energy.  Or maybe they thought they were seeing A View from the Bridge or some other show like that that this theater is known for.

They had a party after, but I could not leave fast enough and a few of us went out to eat.
