I liked doing homework.  I enjoyed math, until we got to imaginary numbers in calculus, now that made no sense to me so I lost interest.  Now if you really want to talk homework, in law school we had to read 100+ page chapters for the next day's class in each of two  or three classes.  Sometimes you got a couple days to read it. And be grilled on it in class.  That's the second year, when they work you to death

I don't remember a lot of homework in the grades.  Maybe a couple work sheets or something.   I had a fair amount in high school.  I took all the college prep classes....well I didn't take calculus or physics in high school, but all the rest. So there was always math home work, reading for lit classes etc.  I was also in choir, swing choir, band, jazz band, and a multitude of small groups, did theater, debate and I'm sure I'm leaving out some things. We rehearsed jazz band at 7:30 am and we finished with swing choir about 7:30 at night, 9:00 if we were rehearsing a play.  So I was at school most of the time.  It seems like there was still time to mess around with friends and get homework done

I will say one really nice thing about being in a smaller school is you can be in everything if you want to.  I just wanted to be in music and drama.  In my free time at school I was in the band room practicing

I think that's why I'm not happy with my level of playing now.  I used to practice for hours every day for years.  I don't have that time now.....but I am getting better

Loved Joan Fontaine in Rebecca, but I love the movie version of The Women, even though her part was small. I can still see her, though, as she listened to the train to Reno telling her, "Go back, go back, go back."

Back from a lovely choral Christmas concert. Choirs are big in the midwest, and there are a lot of them - and a lot of really fine ones.

Just started Christmas in Connecticut. Didn't realize this was another score, like "The Bishop's Wife," from Frederick Hollander and arranged by Jerome Moross.

And I'm afraid it has happened.

Joan Fontaine has also died at the age of 96

Wow. Not a good day for some to get out of bed.

Especially for Joan..."Longtime friend Noel Beutel says she died in her sleep in her Carmel home Sunday morning." :-\

There was a lot of snow here today. And tonight the roads weren't as clear as they should have been.

And someone did a very dangerous move that could have been very bad. Luckily nothing happened. But we were driving slowly in the right hand lane and just about to get to a green light. And someone came out of a gas station and did not look. They cut right in front of us.

Luckily there were no cars in the middle lane. We sort of swerved there. But it could have been very bad.

It's crazy enough that people drive at crazy speeds on the highway when the roads are not clear. But not looking when you are turning onto a road that has snow on it. Just stupid.

At age 96, I doubt that Joan got out of bed very often!

Found out that a woman I used to work with, Paulita Kincer, has written two novels, "The Summer of France" and "I See London, I See France." They're romance novels, I think, but maybe something more. They're only $5 on Kindle, so I may have to buy them.

Don't worry about it, Tom.  I figured that you would just want to get home after a weekend of performances. :)

There was a eighty-seven year old Asian woman at our matinee - she was vibrant, looked amazing and loved the show.
