I never had a Colorforms set, but one thing we did have that I really liked was a Lite Brite.

DR George - to answer your question of last night: I have the latest Kindle; the one that was released around Thanksgiving. I just love it!
I think I have owned every Kindle model, at one time or another (except the Fire tablets). I love to read, so that is my present to myself.

I never knew from Colorforms! I shall have to ask my sister if she had them.

Off the top of my head (which neither holds nor sprouts anything), I'm remembering an electric train set, a little set of toy soldiers, a couple of chemistry sets, a (Sears, I think) gas station, a toy steering wheel and dashboard thing, and... and... what else? Interesting question. I'll have to think about this. I know I was crazy about toys, and the fabulous toy department at the wonderful downtown Lazarus department store at Christmas, but what the HELL were they?

Oh yes, View-Masters. Yes indeed. We had some, and my grandparents had some, plus one of those viewers with the battery-operated light attachment. About ten years ago I developed a renewed interest in View-Master and bought a couple of viewers and some reels off eBay. Probably none of the real rare and collectible ones, but a nice little selection. There is, or was, a woman in Cincinnati who had the biggest, rarest collection of all things View-Master; my folks sent me an article about her. I do love that stuff, and would also not mind having a collection of the old stereo-optic cards (what's the proper name for them?) from around the turn of the last century, but I've never made a move on that.

I'm remembering a toy rocket that I have snapshots of my dad and me launching in my grandparents' yard.

Also, model cars and airplanes to assemble and paint. Later, those would be replaced by interests in the original Visible Man, and the original Aurora editions of the Universal Monsters. And oh, how I wish I'd kept those. I've wept and gnashed teeth over that particular loss more than a few times over the years.

TOD: Books were always treasured above anything else. That said, I had this metal windup duck that I loved. I do believed I trashed mine, removing the cap that spun around, etc. But I have since found another, which I have kept in better shape.

Good morning, all! I didn't want t get out of bed this morning. It just seemed better buried under a lot of blankets than being out in the world today. i have things to accomplish, so I forced myself to get moving. The weather is supposed to be bad, so I'm happy to stay in.

No word from my doctor, which concerns me, since I would like my physical therapy which ends tomorrow to be extended.

DR cillaliz, if I won the mega millions, I have a lot of things I'd like to do, beginning with a long list of recordings I'd like to make before I keel over and ending with helping my friends and family. I need enough to live on, and the rest would go to various projects and to a lot of charities and schools.

I must go to the market and buy my tickets for tonight. And milk.

What do you do with your old kindles? I know some people who have quite a few of them.

I am a bit flabbergasted by the current New York City weather. While other areas of the state have had snow, NYC has been relatively snow-free for the past few years. Perhaps we're going the other direction now?

TOD - I'm sure I had Colorforms, but it's been too long ago to remember specifically which set. Paper dolls were some of my favorite playthings - one set of those I remember were the Lennon Sisters.

Due to class cancellations and school closings today, evening school activities are also cancelled and I don't have to schlep anywhere for tonight's concert.

To make it up, they'll just add one performance to tomorrow's fare, which is totally fine by me.
