My sisters had some BARBIE Colorforms - and I think there was also an Annette Funicello Colorform set....

My favorite toy was BLOCK CITY!  I would design a house, and then I would build it!  I still have a box of the blocks...under my bed.

I enjoyed the Magic Piano from yesterday, How to Unwrap a Present, and the photo of DR GINNY's tree.

TOD:

Favorite toys were: a set of building blocks I got when I was around 3 or 4 years old; a small, stuffed, yellow bunny rabbit (which I still have); a Gumby figure which expired on my Aunt and Uncle's staircase when the wires started poking out of his legs; matchbox cars.

I do not recall if I had a Colorforms set or not. I know I wanted one (or several).

TOD add-ons:

Tinker Toys, Erector Sets, Silly Putty, and Hula Hoops.

Also, I forgot board games:  Favorites were Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, Chinese Checkers, Monopoly, and I'm probably forgetting another dozen or so.  For cards, we played "Rummy" (I think it was a simple variation on Gin Rummy) and a number of others.  Later, we got into Pinochle.

TOD:

I'm not familiar with Color forms.  I guess they came after my childhood.

I do remember something that (in our house) we called "steering books".  There would be a tab at the bottom of the page and, if you moved the tab, the characters on the page would move in a back/forth motion.

Ah, yes, board games!  My favorites, which I still have, were Careers, Go to the Head of the Class, and The Barbie Game.

Sad to learn that actor Larry Pennell (star of tv series RIPCORD and played Dash Riprock on THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES) passed away on August 28th.

A couple of people mentioned books.  We loved and abused our copies of "Madeleine" and "The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge", both of which I still admire today for their artwork and their cosmopolitan/urban settings.  Also, "The Wind in the Willows".  "Little Black Sambo" (!).

For music, the "Golden Song Book", mightily abused and held together with layers of tape added over the years.  I remember it from my earliest memorable ages, and it survived at least into my early teens.

Oh, I loved Chinese Checkers...also AGGREVATION, BATTLE SHIP, CONCENTRATION (based on the TV game show), THE GAME OF LIFE, and card games like GO FISH.

I do recall that I had a lot of stuffed animals when I was little and, one day, my mother decided that I had too many, so she called Good Will (or whatever was around at that time) and decided to donate some of them.

I was probably about four or five years old, and when the man came to take them away, I'm told that I said such a tearful goodbye to each and every one of the stuffed animals, my mother felt so guilty at what she had done that she went out and got me others to replace them.

Damn!

Larry was a former client and a friend.  In fact, I wrote my Clark Gable play with him in mind to do the role.

He didn't do it, claiming he didn't want to smoke on stage, but I think he was really afraid of tackling a one-person play.

He was a great guy.

Mrs. Beasley was my favorite doll.  I carried her around for a year or two.  She even went to school with me one day, probably first grade and got to sit in a chair next to my desk

I bought my mega millions tickets. Fingers are crossed! I need to bail my dad's company out of trouble, keep my family afloat, help out some friends in need, invest in a few friends' companies and projects, begin a lot of college scholarships, and record about 30-35 complete shows. That would make me very happy.

I have no memory of toys except for board games and lots of books and comic books, which my mother threw out when I went to college. There was a fortune in comics and she was completely inconsiderate and a fool.  I can only write off so much of her lunacy.
