There's all this bashing of SAVING MR BANKS going on with FB and Castrecl for distorting the facts. Well, hello! It's a movie. There's hardly a single true moment in FUNNY GIRL and it claims to be a biography of Fanny Brice!
Having seen the stage version ofMARY POPPINS, which has one of the worst books by a decent writer and terrible new song replacements, I can only praise the Disney film for its fun, its good screenplay, and its unity, all of which are missing in the stage production.
And I cannot wait to see SAVING MR BANKS!
This is what I posted under the Times review as a comment/parody: (Hope no one takes offense.)
Imagining the chorus of people who note Saving Mr. Banks is not a documentary.

Tune of “Chim Chim Cheree”
Up on the screen as the story’s unfurled
Between fiction and fact is the Film-flamming world
When there’s sadness and pain, they streak it with light
It’s still sharp and pointed, who cares if it’s right?
(If you have complaints, go and post on some site)
Flim-flammery, flim-flammery
Flim-flam’s for me
When you’re here with Walt, you’re in glad company
Nowhere is there a more diverting crew
Than them what does flim-flam for me and for you
Today here’s a movie that you can go see
That by some accounts may re-write history
So what if some claim what it’s saying ain’t true
It’s practically perfect in getting to you
Flim-flammery, flim-flam
Yes, that’s what films do
