The plumber has finished his work. He stopped the leak by replacing pipe, and solved the pressure problems on the taps. I have a mess to clean up, but I can't do much until the space below the sink is dry. Then I'll put everything away and mop the kitchen and bathroom floors.
Was it the same plumber?

No. Same company.

I just want to say that I am very grateful for the many blessings in my life, and among those most cherished are all of you DRs. It is easy to lose track of that in the hustle and bustle of everyday chores. Thanks for the forum, bk!

In less than an hour, I will be listening live on the radio to the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols service from King's College Chapel, Cambridge - an annual and cherished tradition.

The afternoon through to late evening will be taken up with "putting on Christmas for the people" - a series of Christmas Eve services at the church, with a welcome respite in between of a catered dinner for the musicians.

Then what will you do for dinner?    :D

Merry Christmas Eve, all!

The Day of the Do. Wasn't that an old Clint Eastwood movie?   :D

Last night I received an early gift of the Mel Brooks Collection. I had to watch "To Be Or Not To Be" first. Saw it in the theater years ago, and still laugh about the fact that he named his stage manager Sondheim, just so he would yell "Sondheim, send in the clowns!"

Christmas Day, I'll be spending time here and there on the phone with my rather large family back east, gathering with friends, watching the Dr. Who Christmas special (I am an admitted Whovian) and organizing lists for what I have to do to get outta town. Seems I am off to balmy Portland, Maine to do a 6 week job on a show called "Words By" about Ira Gershwin. Brrr.

Just sayin'...

Hmm, I kept getting kicked off the internet while on here.  i took that as a an omen not to be too controversial here, so I removed some controversial thoughts (thanks for the {{{  }}} singdaw and Larry.

Thank you.  I guess that explains that!

Two days of warm weather and rain have not dampened my spirits.  Today is bright and sunny and the weather is cooler with cold night expected tonight.  I will spend 2014 on a diet, since I've managed to eat more this holiday season than ever before.  It seems like it's time to eat well before the previous meal has been digested.  And everyone just "took something out of the oven" when I visit and I'm expected to "try" some of it.   Oof!  It's all scrumptious, of course, but I haven't felt hungry at any time over the past two weeks.

A long-lost cousin and his son are expected to visit my aunt tomorrow and that gives us some pleasure as he is from my mother and aunt's "side" of the family.  It will be a nice respite from all the Bledsoes and Mimses.  My mom and I are the only Pulliams locally, but my cousins - Adamses both -- will shore up our side a bit.

Let me say it here and now:

Merry Christmas to One and All!

And here's a glimpse of the Christmas Tree in the town square of the County's largest town -- Edgefield.

I have been, as per usual around this time of year, overeating my arse off.  But some tuna pasta sure sounds good right about now.

Watching Judy sing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" while taking a break from wrapping (bagging, actually) presents.

Church is at 5 tonight, then dinner with friends at 8. That party could go on until 2 a.m. Then tomorrow, it's presents, food and relaxing at Bonnie's house. (And no work on the book, I guess.)

Thanks once again to DR Elmore for a lovelier than lovely e-card.  And yet again for the even lovelier Christmas music which will be getting some more play both tonight and tomorrow.

And thanks to the lot o' yez for the various and sundry lovely greetings today.  May this be a wonderful Christmas and, above all, may the coming new year be truly magnificent in all ways!

From DR TCB:
Quote
Every time I click between 3....5 to reach page four, I have to laugh.  When I finally discovered it, I figured I was probably the dimmest bulb in the bunch.  So, I didn't say anything about it online, and a couple months went by before someone else discovered it and suddenly I wasn't so stupid after all.

I too had no idea ;D

My Christmas present to myself was a pair of heated gloves. They're powered by small, rechargeable lithium ion batteries. They arrived yesterday, and I first used them this morning on the dog walk in -12 temperatures.

They were extravagantly expensive, but I have to say: they make all the difference in the world.     :)

I could use those on the cold mornings I hike.

My last gift has arrived.  I bought my mom a bracelet from the Jacqueline Kennedy Collection.....it's a replica of the bracelet JFK gave her when they became engaged.  It's much prettier in person than it was in the picture and on television.  They have been told not to make the bracelet anymore, so the tooling has been destroyed....

This sounds lovely.  Do you have a photo even if it is much nicer in person?

I had to review five projects this morning at work and I rejected four of them. Sloppy, factually inaccurate and just plain weird.

Wow! I am glad that you don't have to review our posts here at HHW.       8)

And the good news is that the plumber is here!
I just talked to my brother and told him I wanted to see everyone but really dread going.  He laughed and said that he'd love to be able to be alone an do nothing on Christmas for once.   I'm still going but it was nice to have him agree

And not be upset you said that -lol

That show is playing right now here in the Twin Cities.

I guess the authors have it in their contracts that the show only plays in frosty climes.     :)
