I got a nice Christmas Eve surprise. I have a segment up for airing on Beverley's World of Music tonight. It's on the air in about 35 minutes (4pm eastern standard time). I don't know where I am in the show but Beverley confirmed that I will be on describing a "Christmas on Broadway" scene. While we were on our recent trip she contacted me and asked me to come up with something since she's on the air every day during Christmas week.

Here is the link. At 4pm you can click Listen Live and the show will stream and you can listen during your Christmas Eve preparations or you can wait unti I send out the e-mail blast with the TuneScoop information and the link to the BBC iPlayer.

If you're not on my intermittent e-mail blasts about my BBC Radio Wales segments and would like to be, please let me know with a private message and your e-mail address and I'll add you to the list. You know you're not on the list if this entire portion of my post just confuses you  ;D

Now I suppose I'll jog, then start cooking, then see if there are any packages to pick up.  A local critic in LA, Don Grigware, who usually reviews our Kritzerland shows and who gave Sandy Bainum's show a rave, has given an award to both CD and the show she did.

That's a nice present.

From DR TCB:
Quote
Every time I click between 3....5 to reach page four, I have to laugh.  When I finally discovered it, I figured I was probably the dimmest bulb in the bunch.  So, I didn't say anything about it online, and a couple months went by before someone else discovered it and suddenly I wasn't so stupid after all.

I too had no idea ;D

Same here.

Damn it to hell.  How is it we all -- except for DR Druxy -- neglected to fly out there today?  Did we forget?  We're getting incompetent in our old prime of life!

My last gift has arrived.  I bought my mom a bracelet from the Jacqueline Kennedy Collection.....it's a replica of the bracelet JFK gave her when they became engaged.  It's much prettier in person than it was in the picture and on television.  They have been told not to make the bracelet anymore, so the tooling has been destroyed....

They show that collection on the Shopping Channel in Canada every couple of months. It's interesting to listen to the stories and see the pictures of her wearing the items.

I need new pillows. I bought some at Marshall's the other day, but they are not firm enough.

Had a nice visit from my buddy Scott (who I worked with many years ago at Bi-Mart) and his dog (a shephard/yellow lab mix) Jack. Scott and his wife ( who had to work today) made chocolates for me again this Christmas, and Jack the dog delivered them to me. In return I gifted Jack a fluffy stuffed chewy animal which he preceded to enjoy!

I would kill to have a dog like Jack! He is so much like Bosco was!

Oh, and I received a mystery package from Amazon.com. A book. I suspect I know who it is from.

Coincidently, it was apropo to Ali's visit.

Found a wonderful lyric on the New York Times site today about Babs going to see Bette in "I'll Eat You Last."  Thanks, FJL, for a fun one:

Some say Babs, she is an actor,
With range from A to Z
Some say Babs, she is a helmer
Whose movies one should see
Some say Babs, she is a singer,
Who phrases perfectly
I say Babs, she’s my worst nightmare
Who’s sitting in row E

When the night turned to the zingers
Where I tell of Sue and Babs
And the nails upon Babs’ fingers
Seem to claw into her abs
Just remember in New York now
Michael Urie does his shows
With the fear that if she sees him
He could be punched in – the nose

Back from a three-mile jog, picking up one little package (there's another one due but I'll have to get it Thursday), and now the onions, mushrooms and garlic are cooking in a lot of butter.

And today, my favorite Irish actor, Karl Harpur, got married! I needed an actor for EILEEN and by great luck I sat next to a Dubliner on my flight to record it who said "My best friend's an actor." By the time I had arrived at my hotel, Karl had emailed me and I signed him sight unseen. Turns out, he had worked on RIVERDANCE with my Irish producers, and I was lucky to get him for both EILEEN and DEAREST ENEMY. He's currently in Dublin working in pantomime for Christmas before he and his wife head to LA, where he's trying to break into TV and film. He's one of the best.

Nice story.

Yes, the weather people said there would not be a white Christmas since all the snow had melted with the warmer temps and rain the other day.   But they were wrong!  We have about 4 inches of snow.  Just right.  I hope the drive will be okay to my nephew's later.

I'm glad we aren't having a white Christmas, but then there is still some snow on our road.  Enjoy your beautiful Christmas Eve.

An interesting review rebuttal to all the raves American Hustle has gotten - I kind of agree with this guy.
