I had purchased a gift for my neighbor downstairs and his partner. This neighbor is the one who insisted on doing my laundry for the two months last summer when I was laid up and had to stay off my feet. He's repeatedly refused to let me reciprocate at all and I was concerned that he would refuse the Christmas present. I was pleased he didn't.

One isn't permitted to refuse Christmas presents ;)

Nice.

We are having a white Christmas. Well, there was already plenty of snow on the ground. But now it's snowing more.

Congrats BK on the award...well deserved, I am sure!

Speaking of awards, last night I saw a commercial (or a trailer) for the new film MANDELA.  It starts out with a full-size picture of the Golden Globe and the voice booms, "WINNER OF THREE GOLDEN GLOBE NOMINATIONS!!"   Nominations?  Since when do you win a nomination??

Found a wonderful lyric on the New York Times site today about Babs going to see Bette in "I'll Eat You Last."  Thanks, FJL, for a fun one:

Some say Babs, she is an actor,
With range from A to Z
Some say Babs, she is a helmer
Whose movies one should see
Some say Babs, she is a singer,
Who phrases perfectly
I say Babs, she’s my worst nightmare
Who’s sitting in row E

When the night turned to the zingers
Where I tell of Sue and Babs
And the nails upon Babs’ fingers
Seem to claw into her abs
Just remember in New York now
Michael Urie does his shows
With the fear that if she sees him
He could be punched in – the nose

Very funny.

DR ELMORE I love that story!

I forgot that originally i was going to have Karl play one villain and his brother the other, but then Karl's brother couldn't do it, and so Karl ended up playing both Lantey Hackett and Humpy Grogan. In 2012, I asked Karl if he'd be around to play some roles in DEAREST ENEMY, and he said he hoped he would be in LA by then. About two weeks before we recorded DEAREST ENEMY, he asked me if I still needed him since his visa hadn't come through and he could use some money. I only had a couple of small bits, but if I'd known he was available six weeks earlier, I would have cast him as Lt. Sudsby and added the introduction to "Full Blown Roses" where Sudsby introduces the ladies all made up to look ugly.

Is that a euphemism?

I think he wants us to believe that.  Since Mikey is really a 10 year-old girl, I suspect there was a lot of giggling. And tea and select tchochkes. And Geritol.  Is this Ali younger than 75? I doubt it.

If a dog ever caught a car it was chasing, it wouldnl't know what to do. I believe it's the same with our Mikey and his antique crushes

LOL  I have never had Chinese food on Christmas, but then I was celebrating a more traditional Christmas instead of being a good Jew.  Maybe that explains why I seem to be the only Jew in my family ;)

Here's that article from the NY Times on Barbra Streisand having seen Bette Midler's show

http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/12/24/streisand-sees-ill-eat-you-last-at-last/

It says she did go backstage after the show to say hello to Bette Midler.
