Mark and I had a fabulous time at the Do and ate way too much. It was a good thing that Bruce made extra tuna pasta salad because there's not a lot that Mark isn't allergic too and he so loves Bruce's tuna pasta salad and ate quite lot of it. As you can see from the video, I'm fat this year (and I really can't blame the pasta), and I'll have to try to do something about that in 2014. Anyway, it's been a tough year for Mark because his assistant quit and his evil employers refuse to hire a replacement for her. So, instead of working 12 hours a day, he now works about 16 hours a day. I wanted to leave the house at 5:30 pm, so we'd have time to head to the House of Pies and pick up the annual peanut butter pie, but when I called Mark at work to come home he said that was simply impossible so we left about 6:30, which wasn't too bad. I did have a moment of panic when the folks at the House of Pies couldn't locate our pie. Two different people had to go in the back and look for it before it magically appeared. Right away, we noticed that Bruce's house appeared to be packed full of more people than in previous years. I thought it was because everyone chose to show up around the same time, instead of coming in waves, but if Bruce says there really was more people, then I shant argue. I'm pleased to report that the candles he lights on the dining room table every year didn't cause anything to catch on fire at this Do. There was a lot of splendid conversation and from the way Bruce does go on about Carol Channing, you'd think she was his favorite person in the world...you'd think. I really wanted to see "Saving Mr. Banks" before the Do, but with Mark's work schedule that was impossible. I had assigned it to us as homework because I was convinced the room would be a buzz with discussion of the film, but I don't think hardly anyone else had had a chance to see it either and Barry Pearl announced that he had never even seen "Mary Poppins" until last week! Richard Sherman did talk about how wonderfully wonderful it was to work with Julie Andrews because she actually wanted direction and sought to make her performances better (having been born into a different family from Carol Channing, you see). On the way home, we listened to Bruce's production of "Follies" and tucked ourselves into bed with our bellies full of pasta.
