One of the two books on CD I listened to was James Garner's autobiography. Becuase of the mentions of "Victor/Victoria" in it, I decided to watch "First a Girl" with Jessie Matthews, which was one of the bases for the Julie Andrews version.

I did not realize he had an autobiography -  I always likes him  ever since I was a girl and I saw his movies Support Your Local Gunfighter  and Support Your Local Sheriff and then he had a TV series Nichols  which i also loved

He loved Nichols, too. Quite a few pages on it.

Well, it was only a field goal, after all...

We loved Gravity and Despicable Me 2  although  it was not as good as the first, but then, sequels seldom are

Here's what you can take to the bank - if I dislike a film, Druxy will think it's fine - he's two for two today - The Butler, for me one of the worst of the year, along with the reprehensible piece of arty dreck called Prisoners.  :)

BK  I wonder if seeing a film in a theatre as a opposed to at home changes your experience of the film

for instance  Vixdad and I loved Gravity which we  saw in  3D IMAX - I wonder if it would have had the same impact on us had we seen it on  our living room TV

I'm sure Gravity was impressive in the theaters - I don't believe it was actually shot in 3-D, though - I think it was converted in post production.  But for me the bottom line is the story and presentation, and I found the story not that original although the presentation was excellent even watching at home.

I saw a 4K 65-inch TV today - they have 4K demo stuff playing and it's stunning - you can walk right up to the set and stand nose to nose with it and not lose any quality or definition - I've never seen that before.  Colors are stunning, but one wonders how much better Blu-rays can look unconverted on this TV - color will probably be more accurate, of course, but since there is very little actual 4K product, it's probably too soon to even think about investing in something like this.
