Tonight at 8 p.m EST on TCM is my second favorite Deanna Durbin movie: It Started With Eve.....although I like almost ALL of her movies......

It Started With Eve was later remade as a Sandra Dee vehicle I'd Rather Be Rich with Maurice Chevalier in the original Charles Laughton role....the remake also features Robert Goulet and Andy Williams and Hermione Gingold....but I still prefer the original....

The article I linked to the first time says Kaye Ballard but the original Wiki page I had meant to link to gave the Golden Gate information. The first Wiki page relates to Cabaret the film and the second Wiki page which I will link to now relates to the Broadway (and other) stage productions and mentions the song being written for Golden Gate

Cabaret Stage Productions Maybe This Time

Here's the relevant quote in case you don't want to travel to Wiki again

"The song "Mein Herr", which was written for the 1972 film, and "Maybe This Time" (an earlier song of Kander and Ebb's, written for the unproduced musical Golden Gate) were included in the 1998 revival. In this revival, "Mein Herr" would replace "The Telephone Song", which already had a small appearance before "Don't Tell Mama". "Maybe This Time" replaced "Why Should I Wake Up?", and was sung by Sally in her own personal reflection (both were included in the 2012 London revival). Previously, in the 1987 revival, a new song was written for Cliff entitled "Don't Go".

I just watched the film "A Good Day to Die Hard" on TV. What an awful film. The constant shaky cam and use of zoom lens (I thought constant use of that went out in the late 1970s) made it impossible to make out what was going on most of the time. No wonder it was a box office disaster.

I've had a ROKU since the first year they came out. If you have a Bluray that goes online, you can get many of the same channels.

Very quiet at the office today, but that's how we planned it. I've cleaned off my desk. We've reviewed our case list and prioritized what we need to do and we're ready to start taking new clients. It feels like starting fresh and I'm glad we planned it this way.

I did not love THE SOUND OF MUSIC, but I, also, did not hate it. The thing that I liked was that it was something different than the usual TV fare. The miniseries has basically disappeared, the made-for-TV-movie is gone except for the Lifetime Channel, the Hallmark Channel, and a few other specialty channels. Half of the prime time TV schedule is made up of reality shows and musical competitions. It has indeed become a vast wasteland.

So for any of the big networks (if you can still call them that) to produce a live production of a Broadway musical it is worth cheering about. And, in addition, instead of producing XANADU or LEGALLY BLONDE; they pick one of the classic musicals by one of the great Broadway musical teams of all time. I understand BK's dislike of the diector's work, but for me I am just thrilled that they did it; and next year they will do another live musical. And who knows where we may go from there.

Listening to a Blossom Dearie set Santa brought. Love her voice and the style of her piano playing. Except for her work on the Ben Bagley records, I don't think I'd heard too much of her work. It's crazy, though, but I think I read somewhere that she was written for Kaye Ballard.
