I know it is early to rant but

Three actors that agreed to do the reading of the play back out yesterday. Based on recommendations from some of the other actors I think I have replacements.

I know its a non paying gig but I did give you several months notice.

Commitments don't seem to mean diddly squat to people any more, especially actors.  They will keep you on the hook, just in case nothing else comes along, but if it does - they are gone like a shot!

That rhymes: (kind of)

Commitments don't mean diddly squat
If someone comes up, they're gone like a shot!

I got my li'l package of Fox films including DESK SET (I always start to type DESK JET) a few days ago.  In keeping with today's notes, I shall watch that very film this evening.  I'm not all that familiar with this one so it'll be great fun seeing it, and the perfect thing to enjoy (along with probably one or two other fine movies) during my enforced snowstorm, er, staycation.

There is not enough of the natural brown in DESK SET for my tastes.

Oh.  Staycation.  I thought you were planning to watch Fellini Satyricon

We made it to the dentist's office and back and I'm now the proud owner of a temporary crown on the tooth that I cracked three weeks ago.  My face is still kind of numb...

Back to the office today after over a month away.

9 more years!!!

Congrats!  I, of course, have more than 20 left...and I have 25 in!

However, I do have less than 9 years on my mortgage! :D

I have always thought that the film version of DESK SET improved greatly on the stage version....and in fact I think the stage version would be a community theatre staple if it had been the same story.

HOWEVER in the stage version....Tracy's character is not the male lead....and in fact Bunny does end up with Mike.

I think that this is one of Gig Young's best performances - along with TEACHER'S PET - and I wish he had been the third wheel with Doris and Rock in PILLOW TALK, LOVER COME BACK, and SEND ME NO FLOWERS....especially the first two....  Tony Randall was never a threat to Rock Hudson, but Gig would have made it a more difficult choice....

Because my career as a reference librarian spanned the technological revolution, DESK SET is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I love it when Kate sings Night and Day and plays the bongos.

And what was the computer's name? Something like Emirak?

Great bit of fun.

Thanks, DR JRand - the hard part is over.  Just waiting for the Novocain to wear off...

It has started snowing again in Louisville, according to my folks.

Dad was all set to go in and have a colonoscopy today. At least he thought he was. He should have known better when they didn't give him that horrible stuff to drink. Anyway, he went in expecting to have to take the test and was told that since he was 85, he no longer had to have one. He's very happy now.
